Saga:
I flipped my tie around and around into a half-Windsor loosely around my neck. I ran my hands through my hair, checked my teeth, and decided I was ready. Grabbing my bag, I walked out the front door and into the first day of school.
After arriving on the school lawn, I immediately spotted Nao-senpai, who has been my best friend since diapers. He convinced me to start playing bass. So now our wanna-be band has a bassist and Nao is a drummer. So we can keep rhythm, just nothing else.
“Saga!! Kun!!” Nao yelled, separating the syllables. I ran over to him and jumped on him, wrapping my legs around his waist, gaining us a lot of strange stares and sighs from girls.
I kissed Nao on the cheek and he swatted at me.
“Nao-tan! How are you?” I asked, blinking innocently.
“Never better, Sagacchi!” He exclaimed. I lowered my head and blew a raspberry into his neck before leaping off of him and fleeing inside the school building to the Teacher’s lounge. Nao followed me shouting threats.
I stopped as we arrived, Nao smacked into me hard, and I turned and glared. He pointed at what had stopped me and I grinned at him.
He was talking to our homeroom teacher, Tanaka-sensei. Blonde, tall, thin, and adorable. He was asking Tanaka sensei about choirs and bands, music clubs and such.
Nao coughed and Tanaka sensei looked over at us.
“Ah! Kohara-san, these boys are in your class too!” Sensei said with a smile. Nao and I knew we were her favorites; which is why we were allowed in the Teacher’s lounge and the other teachers tolerated us stealing their coffee. She pointed at me, “Sakamoto-san,” and Nao, “Murai-san.” I bowed slightly.
“You’re interested in music clubs?” I asked. He nodded. “I did choir and a pop band at my old school.” Kohara-san said. “We’re trying to start a band!” Nao piped in. “What do you have so far?” Kohara asked, sounding interested. Nao grimaced. “Just me and Saga-kun, just bass and drums.” Nao looked embarrassed. I poked him. “We’ve got Amano too! He’s guitar,” I added quickly. Tora-Shinji-whateverthehellhewantstobecalled wasn’t technically in on our project, but he played with us often enough for me to include him and feel justified in doing so.
“Ah, cool! I’d love to check you guys out! Call me Shou.” Kohara Shou-kun said warmly.
“Saga, and that’s Naoyuki there.” I poked Nao. “Just Nao, please.” Nao added. I shoved past him into the lounge and poured myself a cup of coffee. I made another for Nao.
“Shou-kun, you drink coffee?” I asked. He nodded. “I like to put soymilk in it.” I raised my eyebrows. “Ew. Why?” I asked. Shou shrugged, “I just like it.”
Ok… I wondered what kind of person likes soymilk. Was he lactose intolerant? Was he a vegan? Was he just a hippie that didn’t like milk because it was made commercially? Nao gave me a weird look and I snapped out of my contemplations of Shou’s dietary preferences and handed him some coffee. I handed Shou one too and then chugged mine. Nao made a face.
“That’s sooo gross, Sagacchi! How do you do it?” I grinned at him, “I like caffeine!”
“Now now, come along Shou-kun, it’s almost class time!” Nao said authoritatively. Shou let himself be dragged down the hallway and into class. I followed along slowly, humming to myself. Nao stuck him next to me and Nao sat on my other side.
“Naokki’s always like this,” I told Shou loudly. Nao stuck out his tongue at me. I rolled my eyes.
Tanaka-sensei entered the classroom and beamed at us. “Ohayou gozaimasu, class!” she called. We all repeated “Ohayou gozaimasu.” Tanaka-sensei straightened her glasses and fixed the class with a huge smile. “We have a transfer student who is beginning here today. Please regard Kohara Kazamasa-san kindly.” Tanaka Sensei smiled again. I snickered, “Kazamasa, Shou-kun??” Shou grimaced. “Sakamoto Takashi-san, please concentrate on your lesson!” Tanaka-sensei barked. I blushed. “Takashi?” Shou asked, with a grin. “What’s in a name, Shou-kun?” I shrugged.
We made it through the rest of 1st period with no trouble, and then Nao and Shou had advanced math while I went to regulars’ math.
“Saga-senpai!” a bunch of 1st year girls came up to me and started chattering, asking me about summer break, and what my plans were for this year, was I dating anyone? My head started to spin. I took a step back and bumped in Shinji-kun. “Yo, Saga,” he said as he parted the younger girls and walked through to his desk. I followed in his wake before the girls could regroup. “Tora, Nao and I found this guy this morning who’s a singer. He want’s to check us out.” I said, swallowing hard. I really need him to agree to do this. He’s the best guitarist at our school. Tora raised an eyebrow. “Us?” I nodded desperately. Tora sighed. “Fine, when?” I hugged him, the girls squealed. “Tomorrow, maybe?” I asked. Tora nodded. “Hey, Saga, can you try to keep your fanclub… away from us?” he asked in a low voice. I grinned. Those girls were so annoying. Cute, but annoying.
Meanwhile, in advanced math:
Nao:
Shou was quiet on the walk to math. “What kind of music does your band play?” he asked.
“Uhm, visual kei I guess. It’s really mostly just Saga and me messing around. Occasionally Tora plays with us. Sometimes we play with Saga’s brother’s band.” I said. Shou nodded. “When do you think I can see you guys play?” Shou asked. I shrugged, “I’ll ask Saga later. By the way, this teacher is a vicious bitch, so be prepared!” I warned as we walked into class. Shou sat next to me.

Saga: LUNCHTIME!
I love lunch so much!! I snagged a table and sat down to wait for Nao. Tora followed me and sat down too, taking out a bento full of onigiri. He made a face. “What’s wrong, Tora?” I asked.
“My little sister is learning to make onigiri, and she keeps putting the weirdest shit in them!” I laughed at him. “ ‘Kashi! Make room.” I groaned as my brother and some of his friends muscled in on our table. “Aniki! Get your own!” I yelled. He shoved me, and I bumped into Kouyou, er, Uruha. Uruha was kind of scary. He was pretty like a girl, wore lots of eye makeup, and loved to show off his thighs. He wasn’t mean, he was just too pretty.
“Hi Takashi-kun!” he smiled. I nodded and scooted back to my place across from Tora.
“Akira-ni, Nao and our new friend are coming over, so try to be nice.” Akira stuck his tongue out at me. “If I have to call you Saga, you have to call me Reita.” He demanded. I thumped him on the nose, over that stupid bandage he had taken to wearing. He hit me over the head, and then I was on the ground staring up at Shou and Nao. “Hey,” I said weakly. Nao shook his head. “Loser,” he muttered. I popped up and began introducing Shou to everyone.
“Shou-kun, this is my brother, Reita, his friends, Uruha, Aoi, Kai, and his boyfriend, Ruki. And that’s Tora.” I finished. Shou nodded. “Nice to meet you all!” he said. Lunch was painful, with use squeezed off to one side of the table while Rei and his friends took up the rest and were talking really loud.
Post lunch: Saga
Somehow, Shou convinced us to let him come over and watch us practice after school. I was really excited and went through the last few classes quickly, until I realized what shoddy state my bedroom was in. I grabbed Nao and told him to stall Shou because I had to go clean. He grinned and agreed. I found Tora and yanked him out of a conversation with some girl to drag him home with me. “What the hell, Saga?” he snapped. “I’ve got to get your guitar, and we gotta clean my house!” Tora stopped. “No way. I’m NOT cleaning your house!” He growled. I grabbed him and dragged him along. “Fine, but keep me company on the way home.” I glared.
Tora walked in with his guitar as I was throwing the last of my crap into a closet and slamming the door shut. He had changed, into jeans and a black shirt and he had his glasses on.
“I need to change!” I said frantically. I opened the closet. Shit. Stuff pooled out like a river around my feet. I snagged some jeans and a pair of boots, then crammed everything back in.
Tora tossed me a shirt from the bed and I undressed and re-dressed quickly. The doorbell rang, and I went flying down the stairs to answer it.
Ruki, Kai, Aoi, and Uruha stared at me. “What do you guys want?” I asked. Reita came up behind me and waved them in. “We’ve got practice, dumbass.” He snapped.
“But, Shou’s coming over, and he might be a vocalist for us!” I whined. Akireita glared at me. “Takashi, you can practice after we practice.” He led his band mates into our den. I hoped Kai wasn’t planning on using Nao’s drumkit, because that would piss Nao off a lot.
Sighing, I ran up to Tora to tell him what happened.
