Home Again

Boy, I never thought I'd miss Sunnydale as much as I did. I was following Faith and Fred back into town, and just looking around...wow.

Who knew you could get nostalgic about a gateway to Hell?

As much as I wanted to get over to Buffy's, I figured I should stop off at my apartment first. I'd been keeping up the rent -- hey, c'mon, it is a cool apartment -- but I'd turned off all the utilities, since I didn't know when or even if I'd be coming back. Had to call around and get them turned back on. Thank goodness for cell phones.

And can I just say, after spending forty-five minutes on hold, SBC is probably controlled by demons. Nasty little evil ones. That smell.

Then I headed to Buffy's. For weeks, it had been hard to even think about what happened the last time I was there. Now, I couldn't wait to get inside and see Willow.

I think I set a new land speed record getting over there.

I don't think Faith and Fred had told anyone I had followed them back to Sunnydale, going by the looks on Tara's and Dawn's faces. Oz almost shrugged the whole thing off, like I'd never left...which, actually, was oddly reassuring, coming from Oz. Haven't seen Riley yet, but he's probably on patrol since Faith did the road trip thing.

Willow...well, Faith and Fred had kinda mentioned that something had happened to that Gunn guy, and it kinda shook her up. But I tell you, seeing her alive after thinking she was dead was one of the most beautiful things I'd ever seen.

She told me later I out-hugged Giles from that time a few years ago when we'd thought she was dead.

After all that was done, they told me they think they're close to bringing back Buffy and the others. Even though they don't know exactly where or when anyone else is. And even though Willow came back on her own.

But that's OK. They'll We'll figure it out. That's just what we do.
