But enough rambling out of me! Onwards with the fic, ne

A night to himself and Changmin had taken almost ruthless advantage of it. Of course it had almost required a sort of lie-by-omission, depending on how one wanted to look at it. But there was no sense in burdening Yunho with truths he didn't want to hear. Even if last night would have gotten him in trouble less for what he'd been doing and more for with whom he'd been daring to do any of it.

Maya was a great one for experimenting and having a wild time, but sometimes that wasn't what Changmin wanted or needed. Jaejoong could be sweet or kinky, naughty or nice, whatever was wanted, but Changmin always felt guilty, like he was taking advantage of a friend. Besides, it was too dangerous; if something happened, if something went wrong, what would become of Dong Bang Shin Ki?

“Why am I not surprised that you have no idea what it means to sleep in?”

A flicker of guilt at the yawn lurking behind those words.

“You're up early, too,” he murmured in self-defense.

“I have reason to be. Going to join me for breakfast?”

“We have to stop doing this.”

Those weren't the words he had been intending to speak. Though that same phrase had been lurking in the back of his head for the last two weeks, something had always kept him from voicing it. Until now.

“You're a hard one to turn away, Shim Changmin,” Aiji murmured, head resting against the back of Changmin's shoulder while arms looped around his waist. “But maybe that's why you keep coming here? Knowing I won't send you home alone?”

“Aiji....”

“I've known all along, you know. That this couldn't last. It's enough for me, this sort of casual affair, but I know it's not for you. Not for long, anyway.”

“I'm sorry.”

“Don't be,” Aiji murmured, lips pressing to his shoulderblade for a moment. “I don't regret anything we've done, Min. Neither should you.”

“I don't, I just....”

“Have breakfast with me? We can still do that, ne?”

“Yeah, we can still do that,” Changmin said, turning around to smile at the other man. At least they could still be friends. And someday Aiji would find the right person to be with him and make him smile, Changmin was sure of it. It just couldn't be him.
