Hi, My name is Beth

Okay so I have a paper I need to start working on for my English class. The rough draft is due on Monday. It's only four pages, but I want to have enough research and info to make a strong argument. My argument isn't controversial or anything... but my stance is on bedside manner, and how doctor's need to improve tremendously on this. I think it's funny how we hand them our lives every day, and expect them to handle it with such care.. .but so many doctor's abuse this, and just look at us as a name on a chart. It's very frustrating.

So I developed this questionnaire for my parents to fill out, then realized that some of you might be able to chime in on the subject. So thanks in advance for anyone that responds.

1. Have you ever been in the position of a patient and experienced a doctor who lacked compassion, or understanding in treating you?

2. How important is a good beside manner to you?

3. In your experience in being treated for an illness, are doctors more understanding or less understanding of your discomfort and pain?

4. Do you think that doctors should be taught in med school how to be more compassionate and understanding in dealing with patients?

5. Have you ever had a "favorite" doctor, and why was he/she your favorite?

6. Have you ever had an experience with a rude doctor, and how did it make you feel about being treated or asking questions about your recovery in particular?

7. What sort of benefits could a doctor receive for having a good bedside manner?

8. What makes a good doctor?
