Summary: “It’s a promise, you know.” Chris jumped at the sound of Darren´s voice and turned around, immediately locking eyes with his friend, who was leaning against the door frame. "What?" Chris´eyes trailed down Darren´s hand and noticed the missing ring, before wandering to the small box in his hand and back to Darren.“What?” Author´s note: This is for my lovely friend Jana, she´s the one that always makes me write Crisscolfer and one of the few people that can prompt me anything they want and I won´t be able to say no because I love them so much. This one is a little surprise though because we were having the usual crisscolfer flaining going on and suddenly I wanted to write something that goes along with Chris recent interview. I hope you enjoy this little drabble! =)

After a particularly hard dance number, Chris walked back to trailer and was ready to
just grab his stuff and go home, but a little velvet box resting on his table stopped him.
He paused, and looked around for a moment.
What was this? And most importantly, where did it come from? For a moment Chris considered the possibility of some crazy fan breaking into his trailer, and his heart missed a beat, but then he remembered the determination of the security guards. They wouldn’t even let the president pass the gates if they thought it wasn’t safe.
But this brought Chris back to the question on how this box had gotten into his trailer, and who was the one that had put it there.
He walked over to the table, carefully picking up the box. He was pretty sure he knew what was inside, there was just no chance of being mistaken with something that was so obvious. But that still didn’t change the fact that he had no idea who would leave it in his trailer.
He picked up the box, and trailed his fingers over it. The material was soft and for a reason that was unknown to him, Chris felt his heartbeat accelerate slightly.
A few more seconds passed before he finally flipped the box open. Of course, Chris knew what to expect from the content of the box, but he caught his breath when it revealed an all too familiar ring.
“It’s a promise, you know.”
Chris jumped at the sound of Darren’s voice and turned around, immediately locking eyes with his friend, who was leaning against the door frame.
“What?” Chris’ eyes trailed down to Darren’s hand and noticed the missing ring, before wandering to the small box in his hand, and back to Darren.
“I heard your interview about getting married and wanting a ring…and…I just…I got annoyed that you’re not allowed to marry whoever you want, wherever you want to.” “And that,” Darren gestured towards the small box in Chris’ hands,
“That is my promise to you, that I will do everything in my power to make sure you get the same rights as everybody else in this country. And if not, I’ll personally take you to New York and make sure that you get an amazing wedding.
Darren paused and looked down, suddenly feeling a little stupid.
Chris just smiled, clutching the box in his hand a little tighter, and said, “First, I need to find someone I can marry.”
Darren looked back up, his eyes finding Chris.
“Well I can cover that too, I look amazing in a suit!”
Chris’ heart missed a beat, and he was sure that he was blushing at least a little.

Chris was someone that thought everything through before he spoke. He planned each detail, and considered the possible effect the sentence could have.

Darren wasn’t like that at all, Darren just told people whatever came to his mind, not even thinking about the effect it could have on other people.

For a moment, Chris considered what to do now. Darren and he had this thing that wasn’t even a real thing going on. They flirted and joked with each other and Darren was all over him whenever they were together. After a while Chris had started resting his head on Darren’s shoulder during takes and sometimes Darren would take his hand and absent-mindedly trace lines over it with his own.
Chris didn’t know what it was they had, but he loved spending time with Darren and just being themselves
“Say something?” Darren asked, almost sounding a little shy.
Chris couldn’t help but smile, and he felt a little tug at his stomach.
“Well thank you, but if you want me to take you seriously you better do the whole thing, no chickening out in the end.”
Darren stared at him for a moment, but then his eyes caught sight of the box that Chris was still holding and a smile formed at the corner of his lips.
Chris noticed the change in Darren’s expression, but didn’t know what to make of it, until, Darren suddenly walked over to him and took the box from his hands.
“As you wish,” Darren smiled, and normally Chris would have laughed at the cheesy quote, but right now Darren was so close that he had forgotten how to speak for a moment. His heart was beating at a much higher rate than usual, and he was feeling slightly dizzy.
Chris was really trying to form a coherent sentence, and he thought that he was at least half way there, when Darren suddenly took his hand, and a shiver ran through Chris’ whole body.
He tore his eyes away from the other man and lowered his gaze, just in time to find Darren pulling the ring out of the box, and carefully slipping it onto Chris’ finger.
“Serious enough?”, he asked, but before Chris could even think about an answer, Darren leaned forward, pressing a soft kiss to the other man’s lips.
Chris was caught of guard, but he couldn’t help but smile a little when Darren pulled back.
“Definitely.”
