Author´s note: Yes I occasionally ship it, no I don´t know where this suddenly came from. XD I just had an idea and I promised Amy and Matt to write it, so here you go guys! I hope you enjoy it, have some angst! ;D
This is also based on the idea that came up on tumblr a while ago, that Blaine lost his memory after being beaten up at the Sadie Hawkins Dance and that Sebastian was the guy he went with
“Hey,” Blaine heard a familiar voice and turned around, swinging the bag he had just picked up over his shoulder.
“Sebastian, hey.”
Sebastian swallowed hard at the mentioning of his name. He thought that he would have gotten used to it by now, but it still caught him by surprise, this feeling of sudden emptiness that washed over him every time he heard Blaine say his name.
It had been a big step, choosing to come back to Ohio, back to the place where his life had been turned upside down only a few years ago.
Life was tough, and Sebastian had learned it the hard way. He knew that being openly gay in a small town like Lima would never be easy, but with Blaine, with Blaine things had been just fine. The first time Sebastian had seen him was during his second day after summer break. Their eyes had met in the hall way, and he had been so caught up in those golden, warm, eyes that it had literally knocked him off of his feet. Meaning he had missed the opening door to a classroom. Blaine had immediately rushed over to him, and helped him up.
Sebastian knew that this was where he had fallen in
love with the other man, even though thinking about it now, he probably hadn´t realized it back then then.
In another life, You would be my boy
And we keep all our promises, be us against the world
They had started hanging out as friends, and were soon spending most of their time together. Suddenly getting up in the morning seemed to be worth it, because even if there would be insults, disgusted looks and FAG written across his locker with paint, Sebastian knew that Blaine would be there to help him through it. For the first time in his life he didn´t feel alone, he felt appreciated.
In another life I would make you stay
So I won´t have to say you were the one that got away
There was nothing Sebastian loved more than Blaine´s smile, that moment when he saw it tugging at the corner of Blaine´s mouth, a little blush coloring his cheeks. It made his stomach flutter and his heart beat faster.
He remembered every detail of that day Blaine had asked him out to the Sadie Hawkins Dance. He remembered the coffee they had ordered, Blaine´s black skin tight jeans, his red sweater, the nervous smile on his face. He remembered that the café had a special on chocolate chip cupcakes that day, and that the girls name behind the counter had been Wendy.
When he closed his eyes he could even hear Blaine´s voice, shy and quiet.
So…so do you want to…maybe go to the Sadie Hawkins Dance with me?
The voice was still so clear, so present, that Sebastian wanted to open his mouth and answer, tell him God, yes, of course! Like he did back then, but then something would bring him back to reality and a cold fist would clench around his stomach, making it suddenly hard to breathe.
“Sebastian?”
He drew in a sharp breath and looked up at Blaine, who hadn´t moved and was looking straight at him.
“Kurt´s already with the others, they´re leaving for Rachel and Finn´s wedding, I was just grabbing my bag, I don´t want to be late.”
Kurt, yeah, of course.
Sebastian didn´t hate Kurt, but he hated that Kurt had Blaine, that he was making him happy.
His whole body was screaming This should be me!!! but it wouldn´t matter, because Blaine didn´t remember. The whole scene from that day was a blur to Sebastian too, he knew that they had been dancing, not caring about the looks or the whispers. He remembered that they had been waiting for Blaine´s Dad to pick them up, remembered these guys from the football team coming up to them. Then there was pain, pain and screaming.
Sebastian was still dreaming about this night, waking up sweat damped and with his heart racing, Blaine´s heartbreaking screams echoing in his head.
He had woken up in the hospital after the incident, but it had taken a whole week for Blaine to wake up from his coma.
Sebastian remembered coming to the hospital that day, being so nervous that he was stumbling over his own feet. He still felt the butterflies sometimes, the butterflies he had gotten when he had entered the room and Blaine had smiled at him.
“You´re from my school right? I remember you from class. Thank you for visiting me.”
All this money can´t buy me a time machine, no
Can´t replace you with a million rings, no
Sebastian felt like something inside him had been broken that day, he remembered stumbling out of the room and onto the corridor, remembered worried faces passing by and then there was darkness. A cold and still somehow soothing darkness. He spent weeks in the hospital after passing out and it felt like this darkness was his own little place he could drift off to, a place where nothing mattered. In the beginning he would scream or cry when he woke up, destroying half of the furniture in the room, but after a while he just surrendered to the darkness, wishing he could have forgotten everything they´ve had, just like Blaine. Somewhere in between his parents had decided to bring him away from Ohio, away from all the pain and memories.
Yeah, he may seem like an arrogant asshole, but it was all just a façade. A façade to keep himself shielded from the pain that letting all these feelings back in would cause him.
“Yeah, of course.” Sebastian´s voice sounded a little broken and he swallowed once more. “Congratulations Blaine, you guys deserve the trophy.”
And there it was again, that perfect, wonderful smile on Blaine´s face. The one that Sebastian would, and could, never forget.
And in another life I would make you stay
So I won´t have to say you were the one that got away
