I was sick all weekend, which was not fun and while taking 3 days off from school sounds like fun it is so not because now I am so behind and I was already behind and school just sucks, m'kay? And it's really freaking cold here, which okay I expected and generally isn't so bad except when I'm sick and have to hike to the store at 6 in the morning (and whomever said New York was the city that never slept was so lying because nearly everything is closed at 6 am so I had to walk 3 blocks to find an open store) to buy medicine because yeah I live alone (sucky roommate aside who so would not go buy me medicine). I did watch the first season of The West Wing during my convalescence though so that was cool. I also downloaded a lot of music.
Prison Break - Useless, annoying subplots aside, I liked last week's episode. Michael/Linc/Kellerman is the best threesome ever! I love how ineffectual Michael is when presented with someone with half a brain. Oh, Michael!
Grey's Anatomy - Going back to 2 episodes ago, but man George's dad dying was just sadness. Granted, I didn't give two figs about George's dad, and George is hardly my favorite character, but when you make Bailey cry, I cry (sidenote: Chandra Wilson so deserved that SAG and deserves just about every and any award out there). Izzie annoys me more and more every week. How long is she going to play the damn dead boyfriend, oh excuse me dead fiancee, card? She hardly knew the guy. With all the rumours of someone leaving (and yes I know the whole kerfluffle) I really wish it was going to be her. Anyway, Alex and Addison are hot and even with my hate for smushing couples names together I have to say Addisex is the best shipper name ever.
Friday Night Lights - The show is loosing a bit of steam at this point for me. It's still a great show and the Coach and his family is still the best stuff on TV, but it's lacking some spark lately. Could be all the time wasted on Tyra and her mom, which is such a mood breaker storyline. Tyra just does not fit on this show. Yes, the show is about the town, but it's about the importance of football, and the influence of football, in this town and exactly how does Tyra fit in here when she's not screwing Riggins? Right, she doesn't. I hate pointless subplots (see: Prison Break) and it brings down the pace of any show including this one.
These are the only three TV shows I still watch (yes I finally shook off Veronica Mars!)
Randomly, but
this is sad. Okay, yeah so I've never actually been to the Hammersmith Palais, but The Clash wrote a song about, a great fucking song, and it's kind of irksome to me that we have no appreciation for, or desire to preserve pop culture history. I could go on a long rant about this, and I'm still annoyed that they got rid of CBGBs, but I'll spare you all. It's just sometimes shiny and new isn't better than old with a history. I'm just saying.
