TV Premiere Week

Sep 26, 2010 17:55

This year's new shows have been very uninspiring. Not a single show that I really felt I needed to check out. Possibly because everything seems to be lawyer and/or cop show which are like my least favourite genre after anything by JJ Abrahms. So no surprise the only shows I really care to watch with any frequency right now are Sons of Anarchy, Vampire Diaries, Project Runway, Mad Men, Rubicon, The Big C and America's Next Top Model.

Monday
Hawaii 5-0 - Dull, generic, and possibly delusional (sorry you are never gonna convince anyone that Hawaii is like a major hub of bad ass criminals - this ain't Detroit people). I am simply baffled that this was rated one of the best new shows. I mean, considering the crop it may be true, but this is such a forgettable, generic show. Maybe I watch too much TV, but you have to do something different to make me pay attention - this show has nothing except everything I've seen before - except in Hawaii.

I was going to check out Lonestar until I realized it will be canceled in about 2-3 weeks so why bother.

The Event - Really? Are you people serious with this piece of crap? How many more "a bunch of random strange shit happens but it's all connected" bullshit shows do we need before the genre is retired? Not to mention, could they be anymore uncreative as to have terrorists use hijacked airplanes to attack the US? I think I've already seen that somewhere.

The Big C - This premiered last month but it's a really good show. Love it and Laura Linney. Though it still creeps me out to hear Stringer Bell with an British accent. It's just weird (and yes I know the actor is British). But right, this show makes me hate Walter White even more (see you can be dying of cancer and not turn into a prick but actually make your life and those around you better! and be adorable and cute and flirt with your young hottie doctor and have sex with Stringer Bell).

Tuesday

I watched the premiere of Running Wilde because it has a lot in common with Arrested Development except apparently being funny. It should work on that or I won't be watching long.

Sons of Anarchy has been pretty good this season. One of the things I really love about this show is how things that would be a big fucking deal on other shows is pretty much shrugged off i.e. Tig getting shot and pretty much laughing it off. I do wonder how long they can keep the boys out of Ireland because they are not so stupid as to not have thought of it yet that the baby might have made it to Belfast. In fact they should have been there two episodes ago.

Wednesday

I am loving this season of ANTM so far. I'm so happy they finally sent someone home for being a crying baby during makeovers. Being a model isn't about how you want to look but how your employer wants you to look and anyone who doesn't get that is not going to make it as a model (not that many of these girls do anyway). I think I'm most amused by the fact that the prize is the best prize so far (the cover of Italian Vogue if you didn't know) and yet the girls are really fucking bad models this season.

Terriers - I kind of like this show so far even though I am skeptical of it's whole "trying to bring down a corrupt business man" storyline because yeah been there done that let's think of something new and original please. But I like the two leads and their somewhat bizarre relationship.

Thursday

I'm almost bored with Nikita so I will probably stop watching that one. It just is so stale. Nothing new, nothing interesting.

Other than that my Thursday is all returning shows - Bones (yes I am still watching this crap), Project Runway, and Vampire Diaries which has been excellent this season.

Speaking of Project Runway - how the hell did Gretchen end up in the top three with that Stevie Nicks nightmare of a housegown? It was atrocious. Ugly, dated, and did I mention fucking ugly? Also, Mondo's winning high fashion dress was too similar to Sebelia's couture dress from season 3 except Mondo used stripes instead of plaids. Loved Mondo's ready to wear look - much better version than the ugly pink/black dress from the bridesmaids challenge. And hallelujah Ivy is gone. She did not make a single attractive piece of clothing the whole time she was there and for all her talk of her construction skills she rarely showed them. Her clothes were always fugly and usually badly made.

Friday

I'm a sucker for Donnie Wahlberg especially Donnie Wahlberg as a cop (I so dug Boomtown), so I watched Blue Bloods. It had me until it introduced the secret police officer society. For the last motherfucking time please network tv get some new fucking ideas. I might keep watching though for the Wahlberg and New York factor.

Sunday

Mad Men and Rubicon are my Sundays and why Sunday is the best TV day of the week. Amazing Race also premieres tonight so that should be fun.

Overall, I am really disappointed with network TV these days. They have nothing of interest to offer.
