Lately I see all kinds of people getting stupid about straight edge. Isn't it supposed to be about you and not everyone else and not "the scene". Why should I care if someone sells out? I don't choose my friends based on if their edge or not. In fact next to none of my friends are straight edge and they are all good people. I can understand being concerned if someone starts abusing drugs or alcohol but some people, god forbid, can not be edge and not be a drug/alcohol abuser either.
I choose to be straight edge because I don't want anything to do with drugs/alcohol. What does this have to do with you? Or the scene? Or my friends? Or anyone else? Nothing at all.
Do this for yourself. No one else. That shit isn't even going to matter in 10 years anyway. What will matter is how you chose to live your life. Not how someone else did.
It's about time people remembered what straight edge is and stop using it as a cover for everything else.
This isn't about anyone specifically and I'm sure this will get me crucified but I'm being honest.
