MP3 who what where?

I dont know what to do with this mp3 player thing. I cant decide whether to get one or not. If I did decide to get one then i would have to figure out which brand and model???? GRRRR! so frustrating! Im looking at the Creative 5GB (cant remember the official name) and the Rio Carbon... What to do..... I need answers!
