okay, so i'm really kind of exhausted and only just beginning to sober up, but i've gotta vent about this most awesome evening i've just had.

so i joined this thing called 'the lunch club' like a month ago, and basically what it is is a bunch of people who don't know each other who go out and do things. it's not a 'singles' thing and if tonight is any example, it isn't creepy. it's just a bunch of people who just moved to nyc or back from school or want new/more friends. but anyway....

so tonight there was a '20-somethings' thing at artbar, which is in chelsea (bordering on the west village). i decided to go, it being my first 'lunch club' event, because i had nothing better to do and at least i would be guaranteed to be drinking with people my age (no sketchy 45-yr-olds who want a hot young thing). sure enough, it was a blast. i didn't even meet everyone there. i sort of fell in with a group of about five or six people who i spent the entire evening with. there's this girl marina, and this guy jake, and keven, and an adorable guy named david (what is it with me and davids?).

so anyway, i was definitely the youngest one there, but i ended up chatting with some of the oldest ones. actually, aside from marina, whose birthday is coming up shortly) everyone i hung out with was 27! (has the magic number moved from 23 to 27?) but seriously, marina is awesome, and jake has this really interesting learning disability (he doesn't process body language) which makes him a really fun, honest guy to talk to adn joke around with. Kevin is 27, though i almost don't believe it, as he reminds me of the type of guy i am typically attracted to right away before realizing what a hoe-bag he is. but he definitely is fun to hang out with. between him and jake there was nothing i could say that might come across as inappropriate (which ya'll know is kind of a challenge for me). marina is just plain cool. easy going, friendly, girly without being a bimbo, someone who would get along with all you other girlfriends of mine, which is basically how i judge people (like, say, could they share a bottle of wine over dinner with rachael and me and meg? can they join marisa and i for indian food? you know?). And then (i've saved the best for last, you see) there is david. goddamn the davids. boy is he a cutie. he too is 27 (and i thought 23 was the perfect age! maybe 24...but 27?!). he went to dartmouth and is in the middle of two years at the U of Chicago business school. he's attractive but he doesn't seem to know it, he's out going, we have random things in common and just talked and talked and talked...it was amazing! the last time i had this much fun was back at bard last summer--oh how i miss my conductors!

anyway, to sum up: i had an awesome time and am kind of interested in this guy who happens to be named david (i think it's a curse) and a bunch of us - including david - are going out for drinks on saturday.

what a world!
