Another rec for
buffyversetop5 So I did top 5 WIPs being worked on recently
here and now, it is time for my Top 5 fave C/A standalones (again, that I didn't write. LOL). Most of these are fairly recent from this year. Mostly cause I had a computer crash and I lost ALL my faves. Never a good thing.
Adding to the difficulty, that while so many great C/A standalones came out in 2006, a lot of them are on C/A message boards that you have to be a member of. So, I made sure these were all on LJ or personal websites this time. :) (Though I think before Sunday, I might do a communities post for C/A fans. There is so much good stuff out there that needs more fandom support.)

Suffering In Silence by
angdelia Rating: PG-13. So angsty and so beautiful at the same time. The first time I read this, I can honestly say that I teared right up. It is an AU in which Cordelia choses not to become part-demon on her Birthday. It is heartbreakingly beautiful. (She also does some great artwork too. Especially her 'verse manips!)
2.
Dangerous Type by
mph0506 Rating: R. Post Thin Dead Line. This dark and dangerous Angel written just wonderfully. It highlights just a bit of the obsessive vampire and the confusion of both parties during that time in canon. I can't rec this piece enough.
3.
You Promised by
samsom Rating: NC-17. It had a really hard time picking just one Samsom C/A standlone to rec. There are so many great ones. But this one was a different style from the others, written in second person. It is dark, angsty, and has character death. But it sums up C/A so well even if it is C/Aus technically.
4.
Three Stories by
psychofilly Rating: PG. Another angsty one. These are three seperate ficlets that work amazingly as a whole dealing with Cordelia's visions and her eventual death. There is even some Wes thrown in there. It has touches of the Wes and Cordelia friendship in addition to the Cordelia/Angel love.
5.
The Evil Zipper by
katiesangels Rating: PG-13. I figured I would toss a funny one in here among the others. I usually like the angst and she writes it well but this cute little standalone is great too. Just an amusing situation with a bit of a twist at the end. Bonus: She also has a hilarious
