Heads up for fanartists

Okay, found out two things today that I know will be helpful for fanartists. If you don't use photobucket, the second one doesn't apply to you but the first one does ( Read more... )

Thanks for all the info, chica! I had no idea this was happening. I opted myself, angeluncensored, ats_hush, ca_stillness and my icon comm out. I guess at AU, CA and ats I'll have to locked challenges and voting posts from now on, huh? Would that be easier?

This photobucket deal is confusing. I already do my icons or bigger graphics in .png. They are coming out blurry? I haven't experienced that, yet. I'll have to check right now.

It sounds like opting out is all you need to do as long as you're the one doing the posting, Nikki. I don't think you need to lock your posts as well. Or does it mean if you just copy and paste the urls for the images to put in your voting table, then it's like the person posted the image themselves? *scratches head*

You're absolutely right! Where is my mind, today? lol Then the comms are ok, then. That's a relief :)

The way that I understood it is that journal names and communities function the same way in the feed. So if you opt out with your journal, you need to also opt out with your communities as well. Then if anyone posts in that community, it will not appear in the feed.

That also means if you post in a community still on the feed, you are going to want to lock that post (i.e. pimp posts). So I locked my journal, Still Grrr, and some other comms. But if I post to say insertnameheregraphics, I will want to lock my post to protect it from the feed.

My icons and fanarts have been okay so I'm not sure if they are only targeting high bandwidth users or not. It seems to be random and considering all the complaints they are no doubt getting, it wouldn't surprise me if they stopped this.

As far as opting out, when you opt your own journal out, it means your journal doesn't show on the feed. You have to opt out communities as well, which means the communities (no matter who posts in them) don't appear in the feed. So no need to lock posts as long as you opted out the communities.

That also means if you post in a community still on the feed, you are going to want to lock that post (i.e. pimp posts). So I locked my journal, Still Grrr, and some other comms. But if I post to say insertnameheregraphics, I will want to lock my post to protect it from the feed.
