REVIEW OF THE GOO GOO DOLLS SHOW I WENT TO!!!

May 20, 2006 12:27

Okay, so I went to see the Goo Goo Dolls on April 11 at the Opera House in Toronto. It was my first Goo show. I went with a friend of mine, and we got there early. We decided to go over to the side of the building to see if we could sneak a peek at the Goos. We were the only ones over there for the longest time, but then some other girls came to join us. There was only about 6 of us over there. The bus came, and the security guy with the Opera House told us that we had to go all the way back to the end of the street, but we didn't. Stressed him out for a little while though. Anways, they got out of this car that had been sitting there for atleast an hour, and got on the bus. My friend saw all three guys, but I didn't turn around in time and only caught Johnny. He waved at us because we all shouted his name. Hehe! We spent atleast half an hour convincing the security to let us meet them. Johnny finally came of the bus to go in for soundcheck, and we asked if we could get an autograph. He said "I have a marker" and we all ran towards him. I think we kinda scared him. So then Robby and Mike came off the bus, and I got them all to autograph my copy of Hold Me Up. Robby seemed really thrilled that I had that CD, and I told him I loved it and he gave me the peace sign before going inside. I got a picture with Johnny. Some girls that were back there spoke to Johnny, and he said "Enjoy the show". They didn't have tickets, so they told Johnny that they couldn't, and that they didn't have enough to buy any because the scalpers were selling them for $100 dollars apiece at that point! (They were only $20 on Ticketmaster) Johnny seemed really upset by that, and asked me and my friend if we had tickets. We told him we did, and then he turned to one of the guys on the crew or something and said "We can fit two more in right?", but there was three of them, and someone said that, so Johnny corrected himself and asked if they could fit three in, and put them on the guestlist!!! What a sweet man!! Just before he went in for soundcheck, I asked if I could have a kiss (I've had friends daring me to ask for years!) and he said yes!!! So he kissed me on the cheek and gave me this huge hug. What a sweetie!

The show totally rocked! They played all the new songs, plus some others. In no real order:
Stay With You
Let Love In
Give A Little Bit
Better Days
Feel The Silence
Become
Strange Love
Listen
Can't Let It Go
Without You Here
We'll Be Here (When You're Gone)
(those are all the new ones from the new album)
Big Machine
Naked
Name
Iris
Slide
Black Balloon
Broadway
Smash
Here Is Gone
(and I think that's it)

Johnny looked really happy, and was smiling a lot, so that was awesome. We weren't aloud to take pictures. I saw that one guy get kicked out, along with two others. I managed to sneak two pictures, but my camera was on the wrong setting, so they aren't the best. During the Give A Little Bit line "Give a little bit of my love to you", Johnny looked right at me and smiled! It was a general admission concert, so we were right up front.

We got to meet them after the concert too. Sweet guys that they are went to everyone out there for autographs and pictures. I got Superstar Car Wash autographed this time. Mike came around first, so I got a picture with him, and got a hug as well. Really nice guy! Then Robby came around, and I finally got a chance to tell him how much I love his hair!! He said thanks, and gave me this huge hug!! Then I got a picture with him, and told him that I loved the new songs, and that the song Let Love In was like I had imagined it (it really was!). He laughed and told me I should've called them and they could've gotten it done faster! Then Johnny came around, and I got another picture with him. My friend had dared me to ask him for another kiss, this time on the lips, so I did. I figured the worst that could happen was he'd say no and go on to the next person. I was really surprised when he actually said yes!! So I got to kiss him again, and gave him a hug, and told him he was the coolest guy I'd ever met, because he really was. I also had my stupid statement of the day by telling him that he looked like an angel on the stage. He sort of chuckled and said "Awww!" It was cute!

It was such an honour for me to get to meet them. They've been my favourite band for atleast 4 years, and such inspirations to me. Johnny's my favourite songwriter (and biggest celebrity crush!). It was awesome that they took the time to talk to the fans, and were really sweet guys! I'll never forget it!!

Here's the pictures I took:
