Title: Go on and need me
Fandom: Marvel (X-Factor)
Pairing: Rictor/Shatterstar
Rating: PG
Summary: It’s good to have Shatterstar here.

He’d never, ever admit it, but Shatterstar takes care of him. Not that he can’t do it on his own (even if he can’t do it on his own), but he needs someone to keep him out of his head and nobody can do that like Star. He loves Terry, and he likes the rest of them okay, but he needs someone at night or he won’t fall asleep until way after he should. He needs to talk about stupid stuff and have someone who’ll smile when they see him just ‘cause he makes them happy. He needs someone to hold him when it all goes to shit and know when he’s fronting but let him do it anyway, someone to rub little circles into his back and thighs and kiss him until he stops thinking. He needs someone who’ll make him go to the gym, not his sister on the phone but someone he’ll actually listen to, not Tabby doing her monthly check in asking him if he’s eating enough or if he’s still wallowing in his own despair. Star even cooks for him, sometimes, for all of them, shit he probably picked up on the food channel, weird fancy delicious stuff that doesn’t take him nearly as long to make as it probably should. Terry says something awful like “No wonder you love him so much,” and then Star does something awkward and ridiculous that makes it all better.

It’s good to have him here, to see he him sprawled out on the couch watching Invader Zim with Layla or sitting stiffly on the couch trying to sit through Matlock with Jamie or frowning at the TV while Terry gets her Father Ted on. Even Guido’s starting to warm up to him, or at least to having a sparring partner in his weight class. Longshot’s a little uncomfortable with having a maybe-son/descendant-type he doesn’t remember, but at least now Rictor doesn’t have to keep avoiding him out of sexual tension. Monet, even though she’s never gonna say so, is mostly just happy he’s happy. So’s everyone, really. Even Guido.

And Shatterstar? He looks happy here. Hell, if they got a TV and something to fight, he’d be happy anywhere Rictor is. He’d be happy if they didn’t. He was happy when it was him and Rictor in the middle of the desert, halfway between Guadalajara and anywhere decent, ‘cause they were together and that’s all Star really needs.

(And Rictor needs to be needed.)
