in asking your parents for tattoos for your birthday...are you going to ask them to fund them or just for permission? i think writing an essay about why the figures appeal to you and why you want them permenantly on your body is a good start. i know when i first got my tattoo, i was really apprehensive, and still sometimes i'm like "omg what did i do" but 99.99% of the time i'm happy with the decision i made, as the symbol means a lot to me, and i like identifying myself with it. the vast majority of the time i forget i even have it, until i go to lie down and notice it peeking out from under my sleeve. there's one part of it that just drives me wild, which is silly because you know how simple it is. i'm just so in love with the contrast between the ink and my skin, and how the ink is "part of" me now and blah blah blah, i'm rambling.
