.x. Review on Torchwood Ep 01x12 & 01x13 .x.
I was going to review last night but by the end I was crying and was way too tired so I just went to bed. I'm hoping I remember all the vital bits but knowing my brain ...
Firstly, what an emotional rollercoaster! There were moments when I was giggling away, then screaming at the tv (it ranged from "Yes! Go Jack!" to "Oh my God no!!") and then I was crying. Seriously, it was like Doomsday all over again.
So, 'Captain Jack Harkness' first.
01x12 'Captain Jack Harkness'
* I'm loving the Tosh and Jack moments!! They were brilliant.
* Jack looked so at home in the 1940's. It was nice to see actually. I have a really obsession with that millitary coat now.
* OMG ANOTHER Captain Jack Harkness!?!?!?! Not so much of a surprise actually. "I just didn't think he'd be so hot" Never as hot as you Jack, never.
* Awwwness at Jack when he's explaining about the real!Jack's destiny to die the next day. Seriously tragic.
* Jack being all protective over Tosh. Bless him.
* Billis Manger was just strange. I mean what's with the whole jumping between time?
* Personally found Owen and Ianto's arguments kinda funny but I did see the serious side. Part of me was saying don't open the rift while the other half was pitying Owen for how much he wanted Diane back. In the end I was on Owen's side.
* Once again AWWWWWW at Jack telling real!Jack to go after his girl. And then looking so depressed. We still love you Jack.
* And then real!Jack returns (how could you not?) and then there's a touch of hand holding (Yay) but they're interrupted and real!jack looks slightly confused, poor bloke.
* When Ianto shot Owen in the shoulder I may have shouted out ... a little. However, I knew Owen would be okay so I forgave Ianto pretty quickly. I could understand his reasons completely I just didn't think he'd do it. Ianto's come on a long way since the beginning episode. Oh, and I loved Owen's little "in the line of duty" speech about his Captain. Bless his little cotton socks.
* I really loved the moments between Tosh and Jack in this episode. They were nice. We got to see a different side of Tosh and a more emotional side of Jack.
* Took the guy long enough but when he finally asks Jack to dance ... OMG. That was amazing. I have to admit the people's faces made me laugh slightly but then the looks on Jack and Jack's faces just melted my heart.
* THE KISS!!!!!!!!! One word: Hot. Seriously hot.
* And then they departed. I shed a tear here. It was sad.
* Loved the toast to Captain Jack Harkness. Another brilliant Tosh and Jack moment.
01x13 End of Days
* It was nice to see a happy Gwen/Rhys moment again.
* I did feel sorry for Owen when Jack was having a go at him. Like Gwen said, did he have to do it front of all of them.
* Jack looked so beaten this episode. I think he was still a little tortured from his experience with real!Jack.
* I thought Owen's reaction to the plague moment was classic. Personally think all of Burn's acting this episode was brilliant. As was the rest of the cast but I'll get onto that later.
* I could not believe that Jack fired Owen. I think that was going a bit far to be honest but whatever. It was all a bit emotional but I loved it.
* Woah with Billis Manger and his weird visions for Gwen. Bless her being so worried about Rhys.
* Owen's scene with Diane was really nice. I honestly felt sorry for him (when don't I?) and I thought he really showed the emotion he'd been fighting all through the series.
* Gwen's scream of "Rhyyyyyssss" was kind of funny but OH MY GOD Billis Manger killed Rhys. To be honest though I wasn't really watching Gwen's reaction, i was more busy watching Jack. John Barrowman is just a stunning actor.
* Bless Tosh and Ianto being a bit lost when Gwen's mourning Rhys. Jack's trying to comfort her and then she flies at him. I love how he always takes control in those situations. Don't ask why, I just do.
* OWEN CAME BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!
* Oh my gosh at the whole team turning against Jack.
* His comments about them were a bit harsh although I though Gwen's was probably the most true.
* Then Owen shot him ... Several times. That's just wrong. Although we all know that Jack's going to come back 'cause of his immortality but still it was bloody realistic.
* I still can't believe they all turned against Jack, opened the rift and THEN expect him to sort it all out when they find out that there's a raging great beast from the pit of the rift trying to destroy everyone with his shadow. Typical. I did think the beast was a good one to put in.
* Wooop Jack's off to save the world. Poor Gwen not knowing what to do. I felt sorry for her as she'd lost Rhys and now she was going to lose Jack.
* Jack's writhing on the floor was possibly a bit much but it was still good. Lets just face it, I can't fault John Barrowman. It's impossible. How the man did it I'll never know. Seriously no shame at all. You've got to love him. He's a spectacular actor. Much love.
* I was in tears when Jack "died". Seriously not just a few. I was weeping. Crying buckets. The way the team all just stood there, not quite knowing what to say now their Captain was "dead". And when Gwen was sitting there, clinging on to him. Well that just set me off. Oh and yay at Rhys being alive again.
* Ianto smelt the coat!!!!! I love Ianto. He rocks my socks. Bless him being so emotional. He really loves Jack.
* Gwen kissed Jack and then "Thank you". I was like YES!!!!! And then more tears.
* The reunion just made me go completely. i was an emotional wreck! Damn Torchwood. Tosh running up and hugging Jack, Ianto trying to be all manly and failing completely and THAT kiss and then Owen. Owen really got me. Still trying to be a man and hold it all together and then Jack forgives him(Yay!) and he falls apart, crying in Jack's arms. Bless them all.
* Gwen asking him what Jack saw to persuade him to open the rift was truely heartbreaking. "Nothing". As he said I was whispering it (I couldn't really get anything much out due to all the crying) too. "The right kind of Doctor" A hell of a lot of squeeing went on from here on in.
* TARDIS NOISES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jack's back with The Doctor!!! Jack's face when he heard it. He was so happy!! I love happy endings.
* Although obviously it wasn't for the rest of the lovely team who looked rather confused bless them.
And that was the end of the most amazing finale EVER. I cannot wait for series two and I'm going to be having serious withdrawl symptoms from all the stunning actors. They really performed in this double episode. It was like seeing a whole new side to them all. Loved it. Thankfully I have the dvd so I can keep rewatching that and get the rest but it won't be the same. So now we have to wait for Doctor Who for Jack :( and God knows when for Torchwood. And I cannot wait. =]
