What Was and Might Have Been {Michael/Sara} Season 2 FanMix

Apr 22, 2007 21:59

So, as we enter week three without Prison Break, I continue to find ways to entertain myself in its absence. This is my first official fanmix and by the time I was finished, it was a bit of a pain in my ass but I rather like it so...I guess it was worth the trouble. Most of the trouble, that being said, came in the form of formatting the songs I wanted to use so that other people can download them and actually play them. I hate you, iTunes! On the other hand, I love Audacity (the encoder that saved my life) and all the songs below the cut can be found in .mp3 form.

As stated in the post subject, this mix focuses solely on season two and I kind of matched songs to particular key moments in time that I think were important in the evolution of Michael and Sara's relationship. That's why you'll find happy little bits of dialogue paired with each song :) I think it sets the mood. Also, I venture to say that this mix accidentally became more or less from Michael's perspective.

Zip File - Files in .mp3 format; all thirteen songs.

Michael: What are you talking about?
Bellick: Guess you haven't been reading the papers...have you, college boy? Cops found your girlfriend, fish belly white, gargling in her own puke.
Michael: ...Shut up.
Bellick: What do you care? As long as she left the door open for you.
2x04, "First Down"

1. Beautiful Disaster - Jon McLaughlin

She loves her mama's lemonade
Hates the sound that goodbyes make
She prays one day she'll find someone to need her

She swears that there's no difference
Between the lies and compliments
It's all the same if everybody leaves her

***

Michael: There's a way I can protect you. It's already in your possession.
Sara: What are you talking about?
Michael: It was real, Sara. You and me. It's real.
2x04, "First Down"

2. The Space Between - Dave Matthews Band

These fickle, fuddled words confuse me
Like, "Will it rain today?"
We waste the hours with talking, talking
These twisted games we're playing

We're strange allies with warring hearts
What a wild-eyed beast you be
The space between the wicked lies we tell
And hope to keep safe from the pain

***

Michael: I am sorry...about your father. I'm sorry for a lot of things. For what I did to you. I have many, many regrets. But that's the biggest.
Sara: That doesn't help me right now.
Michael: I'm sorry for that, too. I didn't expect you to, uh...I didn't expect you to forgive me. But I don't want you to...I don't want you to be alone in this.
Sara: I don't wanna be alone.
2x10, "Rendezvous"

3. Falling Off the Face of the Earth - Matt Wertz

Is this how the story goes?
Where the rubber meets the road
Waving goodbye is so hard without hello

'Cause I'm falling off the face of the earth
Crashing into bridges I burn
And I'm falling off the face of the earth
But I'll be home soon

***

Michael: I know you've heard this before, but it won't always be like this.
Sara: From everything you've told me, it's just getting worse.
Michael:They can't chase us forever. The guy who caught up with us today, he stops at the border. That's why we have to get across. And I have the people in place to help us do that, we're meeting them tomorrow. One more day, Sara. One more day. that's all I'm asking.
2x10, "Rendezvous"

4. Heartstrings - Doris

Is this for you?
Any move on any front will do
Can it be some slack in the grip of your heartstrings?

Grounded down till the moment I found I couldn't get away
With this, with you
Any pull on any string will do

***

Sara: Michael, tell me something...you think there's part of you that enjoys this?
Michael: Peroxide in an open wound? No.
Sara: I mean escaping from prison, being on the run, and the danger and the fear and the rush and all that...it, uh...it feels to me like...chasing a high? And I know what's that like and...I should know better by now.
2x10, "Rendezvous"

5. All I Know - Matt Wertz

I don't know how your love works
Or how you cover me in grace
I don't know how you swallow all I am
When I can't stand my taste

All I know is the bleeding in my heart
And the healing in your touch
All I know is that you gave everything
So let that be enough; it's all I know

***

Sara: Michael, I want for this to be over.
Michael: That makes two of us.
Sara: Do you think that's possible?
2x15, "The Message"

6. Fall Away - The Fray

Something I've done that I can't outrun
Maybe you should wait
Maybe you should run
But there's something you've said that can't be undone

And you fall away from your past
But it's following you
You fall away from your past
It's following you now

***

Michael: I choose to have faith. Because without that...I have nothing. It's the only thing keeping me going.
Sara: Well, I got two things keeping me going. The first is that I want the people who took my dad. And actually, the second...ironically, I probably wouldn't even say if I hadn't lost him...but, um...you should know...uh...the first thing they tell you when you take the job is...is, um...never to fall in love with an inmate.
2x16, "Chicago"

7. Undiscovered - James Morrison

Well, the time it takes to know someone
It all can change - before you know, it's gone
So close your eyes and feel the way I'm with you now
Believe there's nothing wrong

You think that I wanna run and hide
That I keep it all locked up inside
But I just want you to find me

***

Michael: Listen, Sara...Linc and I are on the ship. This is it. There's no turning back now so...uh, I know it's not what you wanted from your life but...in case you're interested...there is room for one more.
Sara: Michael Scofield, are you asking me to sail off into the sunset with you?
Michael: Well, it's more of a freighter but, uh...yes.
Sara: I'll be there.
2x20, "Panama"

8. Runaway World - Making April

We can catch this by the tail in time
As the ship sets sail, we're all in flight
And we'll barrel past these stars tonight
And they're slowing down, they're slowing down

I can barely see the flames
As we're slowing down
Can you ask this world to wait around?
Just one more round

***

Michael: Sara, what's the matter? The ship is leaving.
Sara: Uh...Michael...
Michael: What's wrong? Sara?
Sara: I'm...already on board. I'm sorry, I must have just missed you...where are you?
Michael: We're on deck.
Sara: Great. I'm on my way up...love you.
2x20, "Panama"

9. Chicago - Ingram Hill

Sometimes I get the feeling that I'm not the only one
Somehow my silence speaks for itself
As I stroll on down the street I pray
For a chance I'll see you there
This time I think I'll share my life with you

If you ever want to come home to Chicago
And leave the things that habit made you love
I'll be there to await your arrival
To give you a life you've never known

***

Michael: Sara, it's me. It's a strange thing - leaving a message for someone you know is never gonna get it. I can only assume the worst so...this will be the last message I leave for you. I just wanted you to know that I made it, but it's no good without you.
2x22, "Sona"

10. What Was and Might Have Been - Corey Crowder

I smell the ocean today
Laced with intended perfection
Thought I'd wrap it up in red
And ship it off to you

Pull stricken, she shakes
Like a flower planted in ashes
How I nearly had your heart
Contention had shown through

***

Michael: Give me the gun.
Sara: I took a man's life...
Michael: We're gonna walk out of here together, then we'll tell them exactly what happened. Look at me, look at me - we're gonna tell them what happened. We're gonna explain everything. And I'm gonna do whatever I can to help you...okay?
Sara: Yeah...
Michael: Now give me the gun.
2x22, "Sona"

11. 9 Crimes - Damien Rice & Lisa Hannigan

Leave me out with the waste
This is not what I do
It's the wrong kind of place to be thinking of you
It's the wrong time for somebody new
It's a small crime and I've got no excuse

Is that alright?
To give my gun away when it's loaded?
Is that alright?
If you don't shoot it, how am I supposed to hold it?

***

Michael: Ready...?
Sara: I love you...
Michael: I love you, too, Sara.
2x22, "Sona"

12. This Is How My Heart Heard - Duncan Sheik

I forgot the taste of fears
And now they haunt the lips you're kissing
And how the soul can waste its tears
On someone who is missing

And how I shed such tears but never cry
This is how I want her
And how I kiss her lips and taste goodbye
This is how I want her

***

Sara: What are you doing?
Michael: You sacrificed everything for me once...now it's time to say thank you.
2x22, "Sona"

13. The Guilty Ones - Spring Awakening Original Broadway Cast

Pulse is gone and racing
All fits and starts
Window by window you try and look into
This brave new you that you are

And who can say what dreams are?
Wake me in time to be out in the cold
And who can say what we are?
This is the reason for dreaming
And now our bodies are the guilty ones
