I think it's pretty awesome how a bunch of the Victorian-era dudes I'm a fan of...were somehow part of the same network.

And it's really all thanks to Aubrey Beardsley. He illustrated for Oscar Wilde and Edgar Allen Poe, and was also an acquaintance of Aleister Crowley. All four of these guys did amazing work that I'm a huge fan of (except maybe Mr. Crowley, who I think was a bit of a psychotic attention-whore. His ideas are very hit-or-miss with me.)

Why Mr. Beardsley is awesome:

Because how many Victorian artists illustrated FARTS.

Apologies if I messed up and they are somehow not all Victorian-era people. I didn't actually check before writing this, although I'd have to infer that if ONE of them lived in the Victorian era, they all must have...

EDIT: I just discovered that Nabokov paid tribute to Mr. Beardsley by naming Lolita's town after him. This guy is...the ONLY non-Japanese artist whose work I absolutely adore, and he appears everywhere! (I really need to read that book, by the way...most lolitas have probably not even touched it, they hate being associated with it so much...)
