Trying to reorder checks finally

Jan 05, 2010 17:38

Use one of the following two methods to determine your next check starting number: Use the starting number printed on your paper reorder form or add 1 to the number printed on the last check of your most recent order (example: if the last check starting number was 500, the next check starting number would be 501). If you cannot determine your starting number using either of these methods, contact your financial institution customer representative. He or she will be able to tell you what your starting number should be.

Before reading this, I went to the bank specifically to ask someone if they could tell me what my last check number was. I asked my teller, a young, cocky-looking guy. He started to page through my records, and looking impatient/confused, he asked me when I had last used any checks. "Years ago," I replied.

I told him that I needed it in order to purchase some more checks. "Oh, you can just use any number for that. Pick any number you want. It's only for your records."

"What, really? Are you sure?? Well, that's convenient...."

Cocky jerkface.

I wish I had tried doing this earlier so that I could go back there and complain to the branch. Clearly that was completely false information.
