Chinatown, My Chinatown

I'm reinstalling Solaris on my workstation for what I hope to be the final time. I had terrible trouble with the newest upgrade to Solaris 9 not wanting to install all of it's packages. The reason is still not clearly evident, but I think it has to do with the Software Supplement CD, or the X-Based installer, one. When I did a text install over the serial console w/o installing the OpenGL or Java3D from the Software supplement CD, everything worked just fine. Just for anyone's curiosity, there are approximately 770 packages in the Full Cluster of Solaris 9 09/04. I know it since I was a little suspicious after the completion of the install over the serial console. I really hope I'm done reinstalling, and can go on with my pathetic life.

I've given up the idea of having the machine in my room be fully on the network. My wireless does not have the strength to provide adequete data throughput for running AFS or NFS. I'm still going to convert the rest of my network, it's just a matter of time. I've been busy, and have put things off. I should really be doing several other things instead of writing in this weblog, but that is the way of procrastination.

I'm rather annoyed at Lynx, since it does not wrap lines in textboxes. I'm back working on my laptop. It's lost both of its memory modules, leaving it with only 32 megabytes of RAM. Opera is painfully slow. Swapping, and swapping, and swapping: so, I just switched into Lynx. It's really rather nice, and the fonts in my XTerm are actually much more legible than those on Opera.

Yet again, I am a tired mess.
