I think working at the computer might be aggravating my shoulder (boo, hiss) so I'm going to try cutting my time here at the desk. I'll make sure to write in the journal, though.
One of the guards/instructors was ill today so I shared guard duty with two supervisors while another one taught his class. There's a kid in one of the classes that I don't have patience for. I admire both the instructor and supervisor for their patience. The kid just.does.not.listen. Any given moment he's underwater wriggling and swimming. I'd've plopped his ass on the pool deck on the first day and said "when you can pay attention and follow directions, you can get in the water" But he's been like this through two full sessions. Ugh. I spend all my guard time in that section watching him because I don't trust him not to get into serious trouble while the instructor is working with another kid. (I'm glad I don't teach; I'd get the reputation of being the Mean One and would have to be Talked To by management)
Speaking of bad reputations, there are several patrons who everyone says 'ugh, he's mean' and yet they're nice to me. Maybe I'm closer to their age, maybe it's because I treat them with respect, I dunno. But they don't act the way the other guards say they have in the past.
wing1 got severe first degree burns this afternoon when her matcha latte spilled. She still went to class. The teacher let her leave early to visit the health center. She's trying not to brush the skin against anything.
