It was nothing special. Just a walk to see the sights. Nothing special until one boy looked up and smiled.
"Look at the sky, Mithos! It's a perfect shade of blue and there's no clouds in sight."
Mithos just smiled in agreement with his friend and paused for a while as Genis continued to examine the sky in delight. Honestly, Mithos couldn't care less about what shade of blue the sky was today and even less about the clouds, or lack of. In fact, he didn't even bother to look up at the sky at all, but Genis didn't notice so it was alright.
"It's not very often we can enjoy things like this, so I want to cherish it, " Genis mumbled softly, his eyes still fix on the never-ending blue.
Mithos knew he was talking about the constant struggle they had going on with his other form. So he couldn't respond, not even with a smile and once again Genis didn't notice.
Genis just continued looking at the sky, watching as the occasional bird flew overhead, and Mithos, he continued watching Genis. Both were thinking about the future. It wasn't uncommon. Genis always wondered when his cowardice would get the best of him, and Mithos wondered when Martel would return to him.
Today, though, they thought about kinder things and it left them at an ease.
Knowing that he's been standing, staring at the sky for a fair enough period, he turned to Mithos and said, "It really is perfect."
Mithos shook his head as he remembered his previous thoughts that didn't involve Martel, but another certain someone.
"Not quite yet," Mithos said.
Without another word, he pressed his lips softly onto the cheek of his companion.
"There. Now it's perfect."
