When Democracy Now!'s tour came through Salt Lake City the other day, it was really inspiring to hear David Goodman and Amy Goodman speak, especially when Amy emphasised, "We do not have a silent majority in America. We have a silenced majority." - so true.

It was also exciting to hear Rocky Anderson interviewed on her program. We've been lucky to have such an amazing, honest, responsive, compassionate, and progressive mayor. It really is too bad that he won't be running for a third term - only sad on a selfish level, though. Even though he won't be our mayor anymore, he'll definitely continue on as an effective activist. Rocky is awesome.

On a related note, starting on October 2nd Sergeant Marshall Thompson, an Iraq war veteran, will be walking 500 miles across Utah to protest the war and call for a withdrawal of US troops. He'll be joined by other soldiers and encourages everyone and anyone to join in. He'll be coming through Salt Lake City on October 7th!

Salt Lake City has its highlights. :]
