The Jeremiah Bullfrog show

Dec 17, 2001 00:53

A long time ago I read a book where William Shatner talked about 'killing' Captain Kirk. He talked about mourning the death of Captain Kirk. I didn't really understand.

Until tonight.

I can't imagine how these actors, particular the Trek actors, could play a role for almost 25 years and then have to say goodbye (in Star Trek 6). But I understand the pain.

Radio and TV share a similar root, and....we DJ's assume the role of a character, and it can be as close or as far from our personality as we like it to be. My radio persona, Jeremiah Bullfrog, is simlar to Jeremiah James Wright, but there are differences.

And I will mourn his death.

Tonight was the final show. I said a nice farewell speech, and my emotions came out in a rare moment.

I played my final country song (breaking the rules by the way big time by switching some songs around and adding it at the end) 'How Do You Like Me Now' by Toby Keith.

I will miss the show. I may do it again down the road, I've had an interesting outcry of support, and I will boast here: my last two months have been good, and I am FINALLY getting comfortable in the job...I LOVED IT, and it was coming across.

Sad I got good only to leave. And sad my fans starting coming out only at the end.

I don't know how to end this.

Maybe this:

Keep your feet on the ground, and keep reaching for the stars. There are always possiblities. Maybe.....like Prime said, 'it never ends.'
