She knows the world is just her stage; and so she'll never misbehave...

Dear Hollywood,

Please stop ruining good books.  For example, one of my favorite books, Into the Wild.  This is a beautiful book about dropping out of society, denouncing money and standards, and a sense of adventure.  You are insistent on ruining the whole concept of Christopher McCandless with a movie that has Vince Vaughn and that kid from the "girl next door."  I refuse to watch such fucking filth.

It is pure mockery to make a profit off from a dead 22-year old that decided not to buy into materialistic bullshit.  He gave away his trust fund so that you could have one for your children.  Furthermore, this kid read/was obsessed with books.  He idolized Tolstoy, Thoreau, and Jack London.  Authors that were brilliant, controversial, complex, and deep.  You can not successfully put such radical ideals into a mainstream movie.    Many believe McCandless died because of stupidity; he did not have a map and underestimated the conditions of Alaska.  I do not believe he died out of stupidity, but of vain with this film. Sean Penn, I used to respect you as an actor, but I find this choice in movie and actors as pure bullshit.

I see that they now plan to make a movie out of On the Road.  This is perfect.  How about every book be made into a movie.  This way people will no longer have to read, no longer have to use any thought process, and can become an uneducated population. So please, make up our minds for us.  We no longer need an imagination.

Where there is a consumer, there is a market.  I remember someone saying (i think it was a Gallagher brother in the late 90s) that he did not hate boy bands.  Instead, He hated everyone that bought their records and went to their concerts.  I guess I should not be blaming Hollywood, but those people that choose to go see these movies, do not read, and masturbate at the thought of someone making a profit off from their laziness and ignorance.

Sincerely,
Katie Gilbert

p.s. go fuck yourselves.
