in my own backyard...
I haven't been on a real vacation in years. But, recently (er, this summer?) I've discovered that taking day trips to touristy places in the area has adequately created the illusion and feel of a vacation, if only for an afternoon. Granted, I'm lucky to be here in the exciting San Francisco Bay Area, but I've had some great times with just a beach or a park or something...
So anyway. Here's a mini-picspam/photoblog, mostly of the excursions I've embarked upon in the past couple months :)
The Bay Bridge that connects Oakland and San Francisco. I was standing on the SF side when I took this picture... You can barely see Treasure Island on the very left and all that other land is Oakland :)
This one's around the same area. Apparently the bow and arrow was a gift to the city... I'm not really sure haha, but its kind of neat. That's the business district/Embarcadero behind it.
My boyfriend & I went exploring. loll I think this is some apartment complex with business offices on the ground floor. Nothing was really labeled... but um, it was nice architecture!
Some tall and sick looking bamboo in this super nice apartment complex we found...

These are supposed to be "designer cupcakes." This is at Kara's Cupcakes at Ghirardelli Square.
The "Chocolate Velvet." ... if you ask me, it was excruciatingly sweet and rich. The milk helped a lot...
Cuteeeee puppy! Without even meaning to, we wandered into a Street Fair that was happening in Japantown. One of the vendors owned this pup :)
And, for the heck of it, here's some grass from my neighborhood park. I had a nice nap on it the other day :)
I have at least two other picspams planned... but I'm also moving on Saturday, so ahh - I gotta bunch of stuff I have to take care of this week. Hope everyone had a great weekend, though. Take a day trip vacation :D
