Jetlag sucks.
Went to bed on Friday at 7 pm, woke up with a panicked WhereTheFuckAmI? at 9 pm. Woke up again at 11 pm, checked my computer. Woke up again at 2 am, couldn't sleep anymore. Showered, checked my LJ for for about 6 hours. Got extremely tired, went to bed again, slept for another two hours. Crawled out of bed, feeling like being run

Yeah, it had some fun stuff and for a tie-in I didn`t expect deep character insight but dear god in heaven, Dean will not dry-hump every old music album there is. And when did he turn hardcore alcoholic?
Sam was a bit MarySue for my taste. Yes, he is an awesome liar bla bla and the only one who knows Poe, also the only one really focused on the job. And unlike Dean he can figure out driving in New York. And this and that. Give me a break.
Also all the street descriptions and albus titles flew right over my head. Reminded me of Karl May with the fucking environmental descriptions that go on and on and on...
Mmm... Let me guess, the police woman? *g*
Heh. Yup. Total "I`m a tough bitch and in your face, little guy" cliché.
And the "Brushy-Top" thing just struck me as a small kid on a playground repeating one joke over and over again. Long after it stops being funny.

rofl. At least it's not that far fetched. I guess, I didn't mind all this stuff this much, because I give this author the same leeway I give any fanfic author: I don't expect them to stick 100% to canon. And because of the media transfer it would be hard to achieve it in this case without being completely boring anyway.
And when did he turn hardcore alcoholic?
The park in the rear bar thing with the chick? He was only drinking *American* beer. It's hard getting drunk with that *g* Or is there more later?
Yes, he is an awesome liar bla bla and the only one who knows Poe, also the only one really focused on the job.
Yeah, but I've read worse. What really threw me was the interpretation that Sam wanted to become a lawyer because he's a great liar. Umm, just NO!
Anyway, I'd love if Kripke gave his okay to all this stuff or if he just didn't care.

The author is from the Bronx : / But yeah, I also thought less would have been more in case of the Street names. Who gives a damn anyway? (I'm okay with the album titles, though *g*)
Heh. Yup. Total "I`m a tough bitch and in your face, little guy" cliché.
I didn't mind. But then I never really hated Missouri either *bg*

But it's DEAN! I get that it's totally neat to poke fun at him that way, because it would drive him absolutely crazy *g*

But 8 or 9 in a row? Before they wanted to go and work a job? Is American beer really water? *g*

I sniggered at the heart-to-heart they had about John. Yup, I can totally picture John signing Sam`s Stanford paperwork. Totally. :-p
I guess I had a harder time getting with Sam because he sounded so up on his high-horse sometimes, and snotty, condescending Sam is my least favorite Sam from the show. It`s a personal pet peeve of mine since my old roommate at uni was a bit like that. And missing any siblings I also am not so familiar with the dynamics and what`s just typical younger sibling being bitchy etc.
Anyway, I'd love if Kripke gave his okay to all this stuff or if he just didn't care.
I think he isn`t really involved with it. At least less than the comic. And
they seem to have thrown reason overboard there. I only just read reviews but holy crap.
I didn't mind. But then I never really hated Missouri either *bg*
This is exactly the kind of personality I hate with the passion of a thousand burning suns. The only time I like to see such characters on TV is when they get the crap kicked out of them for my viewing pleasure. *g*

My problem is that he never really "fights" back so it just looks like one-way bullying. And he isn`t a jerk where I`d enjoy that. :/
If he just gave as good as he got, okay, I might like it more.

Every European says so *g* (Personally, I don't know, I don't drink beer.)

Yes, not one of the author's brighter ideas : / Not that I can't see John letting Sam go, but he would never admit to it *g*
I think he isn`t really involved with it. At least less than the comic.
I haven't read much of that yet. But the comic is not really impressing... But then I guess, SPN is like XF in the way that the cool stuff obviously does not come from the creators *g*

I guess, he just does not know how to react *g* And it's not like she's attacking him with a baseball bat. So what if he "suffers" a little? *g*

Me neither so I wouldn`t know. I guess it would be a reverse then to Giant!Sam who can`t hold any liquor. Or something.

Heh. What`s really embarassing are the obvious mistakes in the comics like have John hunting in 1982. *headdesk*

Honestly I`d prefer the baseball bat because then he would strike back. :) Just with Dean`s major problem - self-image - this kind of stuff I see as really not helping. No wonder he thinks deep down he`d be a whoring, apparently not all that smart, off-putting, stealing slacker in "What is...", which is all stuff that has been expressed towards him.
He didn`t make himself out to be an evil abuser or anything else on the other hand.
At least they could level it a bit with someone having a problem with Sam, needling him and playing that for fun. *g*

I REALLY don't think Dean's *looks* are part of his self-image problem *g*

Yeah, but Sam doesn't have Dean's cocky personality, so usually people wouldn't feel the need to put him down a bit.

Yeah me too. Which wasn`t hard because I read every Buffy and Angel tie-in. :) At least I remember the author of Witch`s Canyon as someone whose tie-ins I liked.
I REALLY don't think Dean's *looks* are part of his self-image problem *g*
Not the looks, no. Looks and sex are probably the areas where he has a healthy ego. *g* I meant more the general "not all that bright" undertone.
Which, granted, is high on my list of nitpicks in the show when the Joey Tribianni anvils are flying hard and fast again.
Yeah, but Sam doesn't have Dean's cocky personality, so usually people wouldn't feel the need to put him down a bit.
I know. But for example somehing like they did with Ronald in Nighshifter. :) Or they`re investigating at a university and Sam gets snobby as he sometimes does and it devolves from there.

I tortured myself with XF tie-ins. Nothing compares to the "writings" of Kevin Anderson.
I meant more the general "not all that bright" undertone.
Yeah, but still, I never saw the canon that proves he considers himself an idiot. His problems lie elsewhere, see abandonment issues the size of the Rocky Mountains *g*
Sam gets snobby as he sometimes does and it devolves from there.
Where did he get snobby?
Reply
Just Kevin or Kevin J. Anderdson? Because the latter I might know from Star Wars tie-ins.
Yeah, but still, I never saw the canon that proves he considers himself an idiot.
An idiot? No. But I don`t think he thinks all that highly of his intelligence either. I think it`s one of those areas where he`d deflect it with a joke and non-answer.
Where did he get snobby?
Sam can be a bit prissy intellectual sometimes. :) When he explains/expositions stuff or how he relates to the "freaks" sometimes. Which I don`t see as a bad thing, that and the bitchfaces make him more human and flawed. It`s usually a nice contrast how Sam bonds easier with the normal people while Dean is at home with the freakier ones and kids.

It's the latter indeed.
But I don`t think he thinks all that highly of his intelligence either.
I get that he might consider Sam smarter, but still don't see it.

You and I seem to have a very different view on "snobby" *g*

Okay, then I know what you mean. :D *thinks of the Jedi Academy trilogy with a certain cracktastic fondness*
