upstairs area:
Hostage Calm - they were really good but they only played four songs. one was new and one was a cover (Judge) so the set as a whole wasnt too exciting, but they were still real good. new cd should be also.
Phantoms - vocals werent loud enough but they were still really good. played like 6 songs.
Crowns of Kings - this band seems cool but i cant really get into them for some reason. they werent bad though. they played about 7 songs i think including a Skarhead cover.
Living Hell - they were really good. they probably played about 7 songs but i left after 5 because Turmoil was about to start.
main stage:
Turmoil - excellent. best band of the night. didnt play long enough. played about 5 songs off The Process Of..., two songs out of the three new ones they put out a year or so ago, and one new one (which was pretty good, but different from all their other stuff). first time i saw them where they didnt play Staring Back and Fear of Falling Down, so that was a bummer, but ive always seen them play a main slot before. if the fest wasnt 20 bucks and full of lame kids id go to the Worcester date just to see them again. oh yea, there were like 4, maybe 5 kids tops that knew any turmoil songs including me, which was very strange. singer's shaggy hair was strange as well haha.
Necro - ................
God Forbid - i love everything from Determination back, and i like Gone Forever a decent amount, but i dont like their newest album. unfortunately they played like 4 or 5 songs off it, 3 songs off Gone Forever, and only one song off of Determination (but it was Broken Promise; so at least that). however, they closed with a Sepultura cover (Propaghanda) so that made up for their entire set. even though i knew it would be a bad idea, i tried to dance for them (lots of other people were). after 3 seconds, i had someone punching me repeatedly in the top of the head. it didnt hurt, and after 4 or 5 blows the kid must have realized it was useless because he then turned and RAN away! i was really mad but i remembered seeing one of my students there earlier and realized im not longer in any position to fight so i went in stood in the back for the rest of the night.
Agnostic Front - probably second best of the night. until last night, every time id seen them theyd always played a good mix of songs from all their releases. last night, they played approximately 3 songs off Warriors, 6 songs off Another Voice, two old songs (United Blood/Victim in Pain era), and 2 Epitaph era songs. not the setlist i would have picked (i like their crossover stuff the best) but they were still really good.
my brother and i were tired and hungry (NO food and NO reentry...got there at like 4:30 and stayed till 11) so we left before Hatebreed. i think we got our money's worth though because the lineup was really good.
bands that i saw bits and pieces of that were not good enough to pay attention to: Wrench in the Works, A Thousand Falling Skies, Thy Will Be Done, and At All Cost.
it was nice to go to a show that was only half an hour away. usually im driving over an hour to shows lately.
its weird because i dont know anyone up here really, but i saw two kids from the gym (wearing matching Hatebreed shirts...), one girl from the bowling alley, and a few students.
