Hey everyone. I am writing you from Waveland, Miss. We have 3 computers that can connect to the internet, provided by FEMA and Clearwire. It's amazing down here, just... there are no words to describe what I'm seeing. Everything you see on the TV is pretty much true... but its so much different seeing it through your own eyes.
We took a walk down the main drag yesterday to the coast. It was complete and total devistation. Boats where boats are not meant to be, cars the same way. Houses totally destroyed and turned into heaps of scrapmetal. I can't even begin to put into words what this distruction looked like.
Some of the tasks we are doing here at Camp Waveland is putting the stock we receive daily into the store room. Help run the store for the people to come through and pick what they want. Maitence and grounds to clean up and fix the facility.
Today some friends and I are going to build a stage for the mess tent so we have a stage to worship from.
We are set up in a Kmart parking lot. The storm surge wave was 30 feet high and went over the Kmart roof. They found 8 bodies on the roof and a live cow. They also found 32 bodies in the parking lot we are in.
I'm going to go start work now.
