Every year there are several festivals in our area celebrating different aspects of our county, but the one thing that is most worthy of a celebration is our God. Give me a moment to share about Faith Fest ’07.
Faith Fest ’07 will be held on Saturday, May 19, in Constitution Square. The organizers are preparing for a non-denominational day of family, fellowship and local groups performing Christian music in the bandstand.
Capping off the day’s festivities will be a performance by Canadian Christian praise band “
Downhere”. Their popular recording of “
A Better Way” is receiving extensive play on stations such as KLOVE.
Wanting to find a way to involve the public in celebrating the opening of The Youth Center, a Sunday night open house for the area’s youth to gather, play games and interact in an atmosphere of Christian fellowship, the idea grew until it ultimately became a true leap of faith.
Downhere was booked before the first penny of sponsorship money was acquired.
“We know that God is blessing this endeavor and we are moving ahead knowing that this will come together,” said Faith Fest ’07 chairman Kenny Collins. Joining him on the organizing committee are Bonita Nelson and Pastor David Berry. Donations of any size will be appreciated, but if you are able we are offering sponsorships. Sponsorship participation will include logos on a huge banner across the front of the bandstand in
Constitution Square and recognition in other advertising. Bronze sponsors are asked to donate $100 to $250, silver sponsors $251 to $500 and gold sponsors $501 and up.
Checks may be made payable to
The Worship Center to be tax deductible donations and mailed to 1731 Haskins St., South Boston, VA 24592. Please join us in Faith Fest ’07. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Bonita Nelson at (434) 222-7366 or Kenny Collins at (434) 579-2483.
