It has come to my attention that the upcoming events in Minot may be protested by a church group. My first question would have to be, WHY?
Now I know. The reasons given have been sexual degradation of women, violence against women and promoting violence as a way to solve issues.
It seems we have been likened to WWE and some of the recent “ACTS” and story lines.
I will do my best to address each issue.
1) I, WE, XJAM, would NEVER sexually exploit a woman for any reason! I fully agree that the SEX ACTS on recent WWE shows is a bit much! I HOWEVER don’T watch it. It is not the same as it was when I was a little guy so I simply “protest” by choosing not to watch.
2) As for Violence against women, XJAM is no more violent against women than the Magician that saws the screaming lady in half. We could say it is a very disgusting display or notion to cut a woman in half. As a spectator it is up to me to decide what I am or am not truly seeing.
3) As for promoting violence as a way to solve issues. I will say this. I DO NOT think violence is the best way to resolve anything. I also believe Shakespeare did not truly believe the best way to solve issues was suicide. When I saw Romeo and Juliet I did not believe for a second that suicide was a good idea but did love the play.
I will not argue against your concerns but ask that you understand a few points. This is not a big company out to make money by any means it can. There are several story lines that I would never allow to unfold.
I honestly agree that many of the things depicted by WWE are more than I would want to watch. There are MILLIONS of people that disagree with me however! They do what they do. I do what I do. I wish everyone would always think I am 100% correct but the fact is I am not (please don't tell my wife). I could be wrong in thinking WWE is over the line. WWE makes Millions each year selling sexy and very violent stories. I know if someone were to be cut open at one of our shows or a lady were forced to wrestle in a state of dress that would not be unacceptable in general audience, I WOULD BE MAKING MONEY! I have not lowered my values to do that and believe the wrestlers that work for us are truly good and special people. I would not do that to them or the fans to make a quick buck!
Protest if you will or must. I do however offer something better. Bring your family to the show on the 17th and meet the crew and have fun. Get your child a Molly Holly autograph. By the way, please research the reasons she left WWE. You will find that as a whole we all have the same values and just want to provide entertainment that will be fun for the entire family.
I would be happy to field any questions anyone may have. I am equally happy to appear and address any issue in any venue you may request. Like you I reside in North Dakota and am willing to do what ever it takes for this to be a great place to live.
I will appear on KMOT TV 10 during the noon report on the 17th and will be addressing these same issues. Tune in and watch or better yet...Pick someone to join me. Thank you for your time and understanding.
I can be reached at XJAMCOMMISSIONER@GMAIL.COM I also welcome either point of view to be posted on the board but will not allow an attack from either side. Please be adult as you express your thoughts.
