I think it's kinda funny (irony funny I guess...) that the theme of 90% of all the entries posted since the beginning of "Holiday Break" have been about the realization of how hard it is to "Go Home" or what/where home really is. Now, seeing as I'm a self proclaimed vagabond, I can completely sympathize with this sentiment-- (home is my car, after all...). It's time to face that we are (most of us) at the age where our childhood bedrooms have now become offices and when we "go home" we sleep on futons or deflated air mattresses, and the novelty of having us back in the house wears off to our parents in all of 24 hours. (make sure you bring your dirty laundry in right away, or you'll end up doing it yourself).
Maybe I'm a little cynical (could be from sleeping on the flat air mattress for 4 days), but as sad as the whole "My closet has been turned into storage for the cats extra toys" thing is... it's also kind of exciting. As long as I still had a tooth brush in my parents bathroom, I still had an out to this whole grown-up thing. I'm on my own now-- and even if I have to eat tomato soup every night for the next year (stupid low pay internship) I am going to make it, after all. *throws hat in the air*
While I'm updating, I guess I'll talk a little about what I've been up to lately... (I understand if you all stop reading now.)
Christmas was AMAZING-- best I've had in years. I attribute this in part to Jason, who just makes me happy-- I actually looked forward to the holidays with little to no bitterness... I also attribute this to the rise in my credit limit (which I promptly maxxed out..) giving me the ability to actually buy people things they wanted for Christmas, instead of the "Hug Coupons" of years gone by.
Aside from the holiday, I did receive/accept an internship with the city of Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation working at 2 community centers here (doing senior and teen programming at one, and community outreach at the other). This works out amazingly well, because I will beable to finish out my contracted 10 months at the senior center in A2 and also, I won't have to move-- major bonus.
Things are all well in the house, despite the small drama we had about a month ago regarding turning on the heat and being poor, or freezing and having money to buy groceries. When our pipes froze, we decided that no one really needs any food that we can't get at the dollar store, anyways-- so the heat came on.
The semester sailed by-- even though I have a MAJOR case of senioritious (didn't realize you got that in college, too-- wonder if I'll get it in grad school-- or if I will have mentally surrendered to the fact that I will be in school forever by then..)Amazingly, I passed everything (BARELY-- stupid Dr. Retardo almost failed ME in Outdoor Recreation..ME!)And, my audit claims that I'll be done in May-- provided I lay low and don't point out that I never took 2 required rec classes...
So there. There is my life. Hope everyone had a wonderful, beautiful, amazing holiday-- and that you all get really drunk on New Years Eve.
:-)
