So I spent my first Thanksgiving away from my
family, and it was actually quite nice. There were about 15 of us
who stayed in the ILC over the break, and we fixed a really good
Thanksgiving Dinner. It was a little hectic for a while, but not
as crazy and dramatic as my family's gatherings, and I didn't have to
spend half the break traveling. It was great actually; I had some
peaceful time off school, got to spend more time with my awesome
housemates and ILC people, and got all my homework done for this
week. I still have a ton of work to do before finals next week,
but at least I can just concentrate on studying.
It was definitely an interesting experience being in
charge of most of the food, and I'm pretty impressed that we pulled off
such a great feast. Everyone stuffed themselves and then had a
relaxing afternoon, even our little furry friend...thats right, we have
a rat! We were watching a movie after we got everything cleaned
up and heard some rustling from the top shelf of our pantry, went to
investigate, and the next thing we knew there was a rather large rodent
flying off the top shelf and darting under the stove! I'm ashamed
to admit that I squealed, but at least I didn't run from the room to
hide under my covers like Rowena. We've set up a few traps, that will
hopefully work soon; I can handle losing some bread and potatoes,
but last night it got into our chocolate ~.~,
