Memorandum for all Army National Guard soldiers assigned to the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR)
1. If you are not aware, the IRR is being screened by the US Army Reserve-- and any IRR soldier that can be mobilized will be placed in a US Army Reserve Troop program.
2. This is a 3 phase process.
a. PH-1 Soldiers with an obligation voluntarily reassigned to fill Operation Iraqi Freedom III< and Operation Enduring Freedom VI units.
b.PH-2 Involuntarily reassign IRR soldiers to fill Operation Iraqi Freedom III, and Operation Enduring Freedom VI units.
c.PH-3 Involuntarily transfer non-obliators in the IRR to all Troop Program Units
3.Like you, many former ARNG soldiers have contacted us requesting to be transferred back to the ARNG. AR 140-10 is the controlling regulation for voluntary transfer to and from the IRR. Chapter 5, Section 1 discusses transfers from the USAR, of which the IRR is a part. Para 5-2 outlines the requirements for enlistment or appointment in the ARNG (see below).
4. This is a straight-foward process. The state requests yyour transfer, the Cdr AR-PERSCOM cuts the order and fowards your file to the unit. There is no regulatory requirement for a preentry physical, and therefor nothing that requires a waiver.
5. Basically, you have two choices. Transfer back into the Army National Guard or be mobilized with a US Army Reserve unit.
They must be losing a lot off troops if they are calling up people who have fullfilled the active portion of their contract, anyway we will see what happens and if they actually transfer me to an active unti.
