FUCK TO THE HELL YEAH!
Luc and I went to go see Michael Runion and Whispertown2000 at The Echo tonight for Whispertown2000's record release. It was a great show. After Michael Runion left the stage, I was randomly looking around and lo and behold, Blake Sennett is standing under this light talking to Vanesa from Whispertown2000. I punched Luc because we'd both been hoping that him or Jenny would show up so we could be once again in close proximity to them.
So, he disappeared for a bit which was nice because there was no way in hell either of us would be able to focus on the band when we knew Blake Sennett was wandering around this tiny venue. During Whispertown's last song, they invited Michael Runion and his band, Dave Rawlings, and Blake Mills to come on stage and play with them. Some guy in the audience behind me asked Morgan to invite Blake up there to play with them. Blake gladly obliged and climbed on-stage to play guitar like he does so well.
Luc and I were right against the stage in front of Morgan's mic, but Blake was playing more towards stage left and behind Vanesa. Luckily I had my Polaroid camera and I started snapping pictures of the entire band playing (they came out really well by the way) and tried to not make it so obvious that I was trying to get a picture of Blake wailing on the guitar.
The show ended, everyone dispersed around the venue to buy CD's or get more drinks or what have you. Luc and I were walking towards the merch table to buy the new Whispertown CD when we saw Blake chilling by the door. Some girl went up and was talking to him and Luc was trying to convince me that we should go up and get a picture. I was adamantly refusing because I've heard stories about how he can be a bit of a dick and I don't want to get shot down.
Some other guys passed by and shook his hand. I don't think they really knew who he was but were just telling him good job or something. But anyway, Luc decides to just go up to him and I followed in complete shock. Luc said something like, "Blake, can we get a picture with you? We're huge fans blah blah." He smiled and said, "Oh yeah!" And I was literally shaking and fumbling with my camera trying to find someone to take a picture for us. Blake was just like, "I got it." And he handed it to some girl he knew. She took the picture after poking fun at us and he put his arm on my shoulder! Bafakfjkajsfajf.
Then we thanked him. I asked him about whether or not he was going to make another The Elected album and he said they're working on it and it's coming along well. Luc asked about his new movie, Blake said it was a short film and they're going to send it around to festivals and such. I embarrassingly told him how I love his music and infinitely prefer his solo stuff to Jenny's. He just smiled and looked down in embarrassment. We thanked him again telling him how much this meant to us and he just smiled and waved goodbye.
Afterwards, Luc and I walked to my car shaking in freaking amazement that we met BLAKE MOTHERFUCKING SENNETT. OH MY GOD.
He is so nice and holy poop. I have such a massive crush on the man now. Guhhhhhhhhhhh!
