To my uncle Donnie

My Uncle Donnie.
He was the bully of the family when my father and his other siblings were growing up.
Even in their 50s, 60s and 70s, I think they still harbour some bitterness. Though they never ostracized him or anything.
But to me, to me, he was the bid ol' bear who ALWAYS had a handshake for me, a hug for ( well later ) my wife, and was always thrilled to pieces to have us at his little cottage on the tobique river to take us for a ride on his boat.
Last March, my grand-mother passed away at 100 years old, and she was the matriarch that held everything together, and some are speculating that he was in his car on the way to the hospital because "something was wrong". In many ways they were like an old couple. Whether or not it was his heart, in the end, the actual crash got him...

My parents don't think I should bother to drive the 7 hours there and 7 hours back just for the funeral ( I would be going friday night, coming back Sunday morning )... I don't know, I'm wavering...

I'll miss the old lug... :(
