Hello everyone! I know I've been kind of a no-show through these last few weeks, but I can assure you it's been a fantastic time of self-recovery (just in time to go back to Bona's and ruin it haha).
Anyway, I hope everyone had wonderful holidays despite my irregular updates (I know how you all hang on my ever letter). I sure did. Christmas flew by in a flash of laughter, pajamas, torte and family. I got wonderful gifts including tickets to see Lion King on broadway (Chris!), a new jewelry box and recipe book (mom and dad), new boots! (ros and dave), my ticket to HP world in florida!!! (fallon) and a bunch of other lovely gifts.
The guardies christmas party was great. It almost felt like the old days, and really, that's just perfect. More amazing gifties there: 1 season of BMW, a new book, a year's subscription to cosm, chocolate body paint ;), a new hat, an amazing scrapbook from court <3 and a bunch of other lovely things.
New year's this year was so much fun and so different from anything else I've ever done. Chris was here and so were court and shea. We cooked and had a small party with drinks and LOTS Of food at my house for a few hours, and then we all drove out to saratoga to walk Broadway. There were a bunch of events going on, but we just nestled into a bar at quarter till, ordered drinks and watched the ball drop on the big screens. We toasted to great friends and 2011. :)
Jan 1, we all piled back into cars and made our way out to buffalo to surprise sarah for her 23(!!!) birthday. THat was just awesome, and from what I can remember, sarah and I had a fantastic time ;) Stoop kid's afraid to leave his stoop!
Now with the holidays over, it's just about time to start repacking for Bona's. It's been a good break: I've seen great friends, spent real time with family, seen Chris as much as possible, eaten amazing home-cooked meals and gained the innevitable three pounds of holiday weight. But, it's time to start collecting my things from the corners of the house. Vacations are always over sooner than I'd like.
Usually, for the new year, I'll post some kind of nostalgic look-back on the thing's I've learned. However, I'm not really feeling that this year. Instead I'll say, things feel good on this side of 2011, and waving goodbye to 2010, what I've learned most is your truest and greatest friends are always there when times are hardest. Treasure them forever because they are indespensable. Also, turning 22 is nowhere near as fun as turning 21, and don't drink four lokos. For real.
Happy 2011, fellow LJers!! :)
Day 8: Are you a fitness guru or a couch potato? Talk about your exercise habits.
OK, well I'm definitely not a fitness guru, and I totally spend way too much time on the couch. But I try to stay motivated and make it to the gym. Sometimes I'm really good, and I'll go every day for a while, and sometimes I suck and I won't step on the treadmill for a month. Unfortunately, I find it hard to get up and going during the winter months. BUT that will have to change since I'm going to Florida at the end of Feb.!
Day 9: Favorite meme at the moment.
Well this is the only one I'm doing at the moment, soooo....
Day 10: Talk about your pets, or the pets you would like to have.
I had the best dog in the world. Her name was Pepper, and she was a black lab and beagle mix. She was perfect. She always behaved, never went in the house, never so much as growled at a stranger. She was perfectly lovable and sweet and everything a family pet should be. She died three summers ago, and it was awful. We'd had her for 13 years, and I'd grown up with her. Obviously now's not the right time to get another puppy, but as soon as I've settled into a comfortable routine with enough time and resources to provide a good home, I'll pick up my baby, female golden retriever. :)
Day 11: Your top three favorite bands.
This one's a little tough. I tend to love underground bands more than mainstream ones, and I love all music SO MUCH that it's hard for me to segregate into favorites. I suppose I'll say what I always say: Something Corporate, Jack's Mannequin and Mae.
Day 12: Your thoughts or opinions about Harry Potter.
I love Harry Potter. Ever since Fallon read me the first book when I was 10 years old, I've been hooked. I've read each book probably six or seven times each and the whole series back-to-back probably about four. And while I adore reading all kinds of books, HP definitely has its own, eternal spot in my heart. Someday, if I ever decide to get pregnant, I plan to read those books to my swelling tummy. For some reason that's always been a sort of dream? (for lack of a better word) of mine. I feel like my childhood is so firmly connected with those books that I want to link them somehow to any children I have. Plus, I have this incessant need to force anything I love upon others whether they like it or not. hahah my kids WILL love HP!!!!!
Also, I'm going to HP world in Universal Studios in MARCHHHH! :)
