Rebecca called me last night to see if I wanted to join her and her husband for dinner at a Cuban restaurant called "cafe veinte-ocho". I said sure, and we headed over. We were all excited to try a new place. We got there, and I had been there twice! But I always call it "cafe twenty-eight"! For the record, the sign says Cafe 28, so it's open ( Read more... )

Magazine Street, where I took my friend tniassaint when he was in town last week, was once littered with little Cuban restaurants. I'll have to research to see if there are any still there.

I have a bag of black beans and have been wanting to make black bean soup this winter. I love it. A girl I once knew is married to a Cuban and they had a Cuban restaurant not far from here. I'll have to check to see if they are still open.
