Musical associations

I'm listening to the excellent Radio Paradise. They played In Liverpool by Suzanne Vega, followed by Eleanor Rigby, by a quaint little quartet from Liverpool, followed by Beethoven's Fifth! And now they are playing a song I've never heard, but I love, "All You Do Is Talk" by the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

Funny but I never made the connection between the DC Comics character, Solomon Grundy, and the old poem, which I do now remember hearing as a child as well. I don't remember if I was distressed at the thought of poor Solomon living only seven days, however, although I have a hunch I did. I was quite worried about anyone eating nine day old peas and porridge, and equally fascinated that a cow had once jumped over the moon -although deciding, as I recall, that it was probably in the olden days, when magical things were far more common.

By the way, when Paul McCartney came up with the first few lines of Eleanor Rigby, her name was "Daisy Hawkins". I love the sound and rhythm of words and names, and it's inconceivable to me that anything else would have worked as well.
