I know I've been incommunicado again, and I apologize. I'm hoping to write an update later today, but in the mean time, I beg of all of you:

please, if you're posting a large number of pictures, or large pictures, please place them behind a cut, as my friends page keeps crashing. My poor widdle computer can't handle it.

You reminded me of an incident I'd forgotten about since I was in 4th grade (or so). Some students asked our teacher if we could have recess inside and play games. She at first refused and a bunch of kids begged, "PULEEZE!"

Well, she relented but I raised my hand and asked why we say "Please" when asking for something. Everyone laughed like that was such a stupid question, but my teacher said that it was a good question.

She then said that it was because we were making a "plea". I believed that for awhile but later found out that the etymologies of the two words were different and that "Please!" is simply a shortened form of "If it pleases you" or something like that.

It was one of the first times I can recall realizing that you shouldn't believe everything you hear ... even from an "expert". That said, politeness still goes a long way.
