still sick, keep waking up sick. tomorrow, hopefully i will be better so i can haul it to curtain road, fight the damn pattern cutters and draft my pattern. but chances r i will still be sick and only make it as far as barclays for my euros. another reason i dont want to be sick (besides the obvious of it sucks and i need to draft my pattern), im leaving for paris on thursday, and if the trip is anything like last year, i'll prob die b4 i make it back cuz im still sick and paris is crazy. saw nina today and asked her if she wanted to room again in paris and she was like hells ya, another round... damn, im soo gonna die. anyway... so we choose our design to be making this term. mine is based on 50's american bored housewife. but fucked up. the top part is relatively calm, with a shallow boxed neckline, slightly puffed sleeves and french darts. then there is a massive obi belt with a vintage balenciaga inspired bow in back. then the skirt is going to be a full circle skirt made of many layers of either organza or chiffon. not sure which yet, opinions guys? but im just gonna make the skirt as big as possible. its gonna be a bitch to sew tho. even my design tutor advised to look for ways to seal the hem of the skirt layers without sewing because "its very difficult, even i could not sew all the properly." so im playing with the laser cutter to see if that will seal the hem and i wont have to sew. now i just have to talk the model into wearing it, which i think she will. but i loved it, when i was discussing with my design tutor and my textile tutor today my designs, my design tutor just goes, you love to take pretty things and just make them vulgar. i was like yes!! god yes, what fun would fashion be if you couldnt take the piss out of it?
