You never realize who exactly your are hanging out with when you are younger. I was eighteen years old. I hung out with Mike Canfield and Glen Aspen everyday for nearly two years. I lost touch with them many years ago but to see this on the internet is quite disturbing and well, makes me think... Do I really now who my friends are and there capabilites. And also on a side note to this story apparently Mike and Glen had been tongue wrestling ever since I new them and well no one new until this last final days.
Man charged in girlfriend's death

CHARLOTTE COUNTY - Thursday night, the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office arrested 32 year old Michael David Canfield in the shooting death of his girlfriend. Canfield told deputies his girlfriend committed suicide, but the medical examiner told detectives the wounds were not self-inflicted. Canfield has been charged with first degree murder.
Canfield called the CCSO early Thursday saying he discovered his girlfriend had shot and killed herself in her bedroom. EMS pronounced forty year old Christine M. Wernett dead at the scene.
Canfield would not consent to a search of the home, so the sheriff's office obtained a search warrant. He voluntarily went with detectives to speak with them about the incident.
In the interview, Canfield told detectives he went with Wernett and friend Glenn Aspen to a bowling alley, then a bar for drinks. He said they got back to Wernett's home around 1:30 am. Aspen said he left around 3:30 am, then Canfield called him at 4:40 am and asked him to come back to the house. Aspen said Canfield was upset and crying on the phone.
During autopsy, Medical Examiner Dr. Riazul Imami found two bullet wounds to Wernett's head. Imami told detectives he did not believe the gunshots were self inflicted and ruled her death a homicide.
Detectives spoke with Canfield again on Thursday and he said he may have shot her but he did not remember. He was arrested and charged with first degree murder.
