academic thoughts
got a phone call from Q who, along with growing as a person, is growing vegetables and herbs on his balcony. we talked about a lot of stuff, including what i'm going to do when i visit him in SF december. he is amidst many excellent schools: Stanford, Berkeley, etc. so i might check those out for another grad degree, or work. i went online and started searching for academic jobs. i now feel a little more hopeful about the future as most theatre lecturer positions (esp acting & movement) require not a PhD, but a terminal degree, of which i will be a recepient next year. i think i need more teaching experience (i have some with children, but only a bit of it at high school/college level), and more professional acting experience (I have HTY, Dinner theatre, a hospital-sponsored Date-Rape prevention show, and Snowshow), then i will be good to go!
i have months to prepare for this trip. if i wasn't in Vinegar Tom, i could've gone next month for Q's birthday and a Dave Matthews Band concert. ah well, c'est la vie! at least i get to go to a Cirque du Soleil show: now THAT's what i should do for a living!
ps, i got a great hug from Cee this afternoon. one time he hugged me in the theatre hallway and i nearly fainted- that was weird.
