today was an eventful day.
a day of creating new memories, and thinking back on old ones.
started the day with a foodie trip with yiling, louis and junjie.
we went to maxwell and chinatown.
i ate my sheng yu and porridge (though not from the correct stall! it was closed)...
ate yummy dessert (mango pomelo sago),
and delicious char siew pastry and egg tarts.
satisfied, for now... (:
broke off with yiling&louis and then jj and i headed for plaza sing.
walked around and bought myself a book using vouchers from poks (thanks babes!)
jj also bought LOTS of faceshop stuff. my boy sure is metro.
strolled to taka under the hot sun, stopped to people watched along the way.
made our way there, walked around, got drinks, and left.
took 190 all the way to cck.
attempted to look for a book which jj wants, without avail.
decided to cut my hair today.
was considering that for about a week already.
and since there was time and a rather empty salon, chopped my hair off.
so now i have like slightly-longer-than-shoulder-length hair.
thats all. no more long hair!
took bus home.
rested and then left for a grassroots-national day dinner.
was held really near my house though, and it was sure crowded.
food was not bad, and atmosphere was so-so.
but i surely shed my first tear for this lovely nation of mine.
we sang the national anthem and recited the pledge,
something which i have not done for ages.
and this time round when i did both of them,
i realised how much i love my country.
especially the pledge,
of how we must be united.
brought me lots of thoughts.
it is this country where i grew up,
this country where i fell down.
it is this country where i learnt,
and this country where i loved.
and how many times have we taken the peace and harmony for granted?
how many times have we assumed that what we have will be forever?
how many times have we sneered at fellow Singaporeans for doing lame things?
how many times have we wished that we do not belong to this nation?
how many times have we complained about its lack of natural beauty or culture?
i surely have done the above.
but today, the pledge and the national day songs have made me come to my senses.
have made me fall in love with singapore all over again.
it is a place where we have opportunities,
where we have securities,
where we have PEACE.
and where our kids will enjoy these too.
and that alone, is enough for me to say,
THANK YOU SINGAPORE and I LOVE YOU!
happy birthday, in advance!
i sing songs for you from my heart. ♥
on a sidenote, do not trust weird emails from me which i did not sign off personally.
