for those people who need a refresher part one.

anyways, most people guessed right, hkleo-da was the first sketch and I had the second one. Sorry about how long it took, but I just want to say that I'm surprised by how many people commented. o@w@o and frankly it makes me very happy to know that that many people were curious and cared enough to take a few ( Read more... )

From the sounds of my friends at other schools to be a symptom not just of art at Tech, but of college in general. No one cares. Conversation is shallow and consists of small talk, no one wants to know each other all that well, and academic work is something we all just do. High school was cooler :\

It's definitely not just art- current events, politics, religion, anything that you'd have to flip through a newspaper for is typically ignored.

I'd imagine a more ivy league-ish school would be more open to such discussion.

And on those, it seems like the little discussion you can have is pretty much limited to a large group of people who all share the same views. Want politics? Go to one of the campus party meetings where no one really thinks critically because they all just take the position of the party. Wanna talk about religion? Join a church group where few if anyone questions the theology or really struggles with their faith. Even if you try to expose yourself to different ideologies or points of view, they all become painfully predictable after awhile, and what's the point of talking about them if you know what everyone else is going to say?

I have to agree with you. Nobody is really open minded anymore. most people just want it parrotted back to them. there's no such things as open forums where ideas were tossed back and forth, instead it's just a seething pot of hate and anger...

well not really, but I stand by the whole parroting thing
