I think it's very sad that we needed to add a feature to LJ to work around people posting obscenely large images that break tables. People think they have a god-given right to improperly stretch the formatting of other people's friends pages and that somehow that is a form of free speech.
I dunno. I'm more worried about why politely asking if they'll lj-cut it so that it -wouldn't- stretch is for some reason telling them what they can and can't post in their journal and stuff.
Eh. Is it really that big of a thing whether its behind a cut, if it makes it so its not inconviencing others?
Because it's a form of censorship. "My LJ style doesn't like wide things, so I want you to go hide it, thanks to the incapability of my choice in styles."
To me, it is something big. It's the equivalent of telling someone how to post in their own journal, just to appease you. That's why I say use the new feature, and encourage anyone who hears "LJ-Cut it! D:" to tell that person the same thing.
My sole existence in life is to piss people off. What better way to deliver a message than with something I *know* they'll see. And to hell with lj-cut. To HELL!!!
the huge image, I took you off my friends list just to read my page... then I felt guilty for taking you off.... so I told it to block images from that server.
Why not follow the option I pointed out in the image, which was the sole reason I did that? ~.~; It has a large option which kills images that exceed 640 pixels in height or 480 pixels in width, of which my image was ~960 pixels.
It doesn't solve HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE text posts, which is why most people complain about /my/ journal. So I bite the bullet and cut for their reading convenience(?).
