Writer's Block: Place of Residence
My dream house changes from time to time, especially depending on my mood. Right now, I'm feeling the need to get away. I always feel like that a few weeks into the summer, when its raining outside, and its too cold to swim, but too warm to stay inside all day, and the leaves and grass are finally starting fill in, but I can't go out there to enjoy it. So, today, my dream house is on an island, preferably tropical, and small with just enough room to explore and survive off the land.
I'm a little materialistic, so my dream house is definitely not a small brown hut with a grass roof. My home is going to be modern, big and glass, and built into the sides of my island to perfectly mesh seamlessly with the tropical scenery. The sides are curved, and glass windows take up an entire portion of the building with breathtaking views of the white sandy beach and ocean. My own private island has a waterfall falling two stories down on the western side, and my home wraps around it, and the trees surrounding it. In the upper story of my home there is an outdoor bridge that crosses over the top crest of the water fall, effectively creating a "U" shaped home for myself, as the rest of my home surrounds the stream that empties out into the ocean. One large, semi-outdoor room, will will be dedicated towards my practicing of martial arts. It will have wood floors, and the roof will be held up by steel poles that allow the roof to be retracted, so that I can practice outside in the open air. There will be no walls, so that even when it rains, I can practice and feel the cool breeze, and smell the fresh sweetness.
Finally, hydraulic and solar energy will be used to create electricity for my home as I am hopelessly addicted to television, music, the internet, and movies. My home will have all the modern amenities and newest electronics. My home will be a smart house, capable of keeping me abreast of all the current world news and entertainment, My home's computer will be named Harry, and he wil have a soothing English accent. As my home is on a tropical island, with large windows opening onto the ocean, I will have smoke tinted windows to block the sun when it gets overly hot, and as a means of reducing energy consumption.
That's my home in a nutshell, I know it'll probably change in a few days time, but at 3:00am, that's what I believe it would be like. My own little space, away from the cares of the world, but still with the capabilities for me to be aware of world news and have my own fun.
