Characters: Rinoa and Seifer Location: Somewhere on school grounds Time: After classes Content: Rinoa's got a rock to give and some things to talk about. Warnings: Cavity inducing? ( I'll be waiting all there's left to do is run )
Heh, the rock thing already, huh? Seifer thought the whole idea was just plain silly, what the hell was so romantic about a rock? Then, Rinoa had decided to get him one, and it suddenly made a lot more sense. The rock wasn't important, the idea was.
So, out he came, getting a little nervous himself. Earlier had been flirty, yeah, but it was more about catching up than anything else. Now, this, this was a different matter. You didn't just give a rock to a friend, friendships were for pine cones or something. Last year, it'd been a really fun thing, and he loved every moment of it, but now they'd be living under the same roof rather than temporary acquaintances in the same city. This was a helluva lot more serious.
Oh, get over it, Seifer, he mentally chided himself. Getting all worked up over a girl he knew wasn't gonna make things any worse than they already were. He wasn't some kitten, he was a mountain lion. Lions don't know fear, and they sure don't back down from anything
( ... )
Yes, the silly rock thing. Sure she might be moving a little fast, but when had either one of them been the sort to over think this sort of thing?
Despite this, despite reminding her that this was Seifer and she certainly didn't have any reason to be nervous she got more nervous with each step he took. Maybe she was being silly, maybe he'd just not wanted to admit that he'd long since moved on in her absence, maybe she'd just misread everything he'd done or said since they'd both gotten at the school. Oh god!
If they'd thought last time had been bad, this time was even worse as feather's exploded everywhere in a practical cloud of white fluff. When they cleared poor Rinoa was several feet up in the air, wings carrying her without much real thought because it was unlikely that the poor girl was capable of much at the moment. Guess that showed just how nervous she was while pretending not to be.
Man, someone just shoot a chicken? He'd have to remember: startle the girl, the feathers fly. When he could see again, she was up in the air: oh, wow, fully functional, too? She was just full of surprises. That look on her face just made him cackle, he couldn't help it, and all of his own nervousness just melted away.
"Surprised to see me? I'm hurt," he said, not really hurt at all, and walked over to stand under her with arms raised to catch, just in case she hadn't quite mastered the art of landing gracefully yet.
It was only because she couldn't fully control it yet. With time this would happen less and less. Or so she hoped because it'd be mortifying if she had this to look forward to every time someone startled her.
"Seifer!" She looked down at him laughing and caught the giggles herself. "You did that on purpose. You're not allowed to be hurt." It was a good thing he did, because she was not and as her wings vanished in another cascade of feathers she most certainly would have landed badly if he hadn't realized just what was likely to happen.
"Thanks." She's a little breathless now, being scared out of your feathers would do that to a girl after all. "My hero again, huh?"
