There were a lot of side effects to what had happened with Mod. Some pleasant. Others, less so. The nightmares and sleepless nights counted towards the latter category. Hajime counted it as an opportunity to get out more. Think about things. Lord knew he had a lot to think about, these days.

It was only a few days more before he made the trip back home. Just for a visit, but... he had to wonder. It would be nice to have Jack meet everyone, at least, and maybe--

The thoughts were interrupted when he saw Sanji from afar, heading for... ah. It had finally come to that, hmm? He stood and dusted himself off. "Finally made up your mind, did you?" In spite of himself, Hajime really couldn't help but smile. Sad, but still a smile. "It's about time."

Trying to cover up the fact that he had not at all been expecting to see anyone this early was not exactly easy, let alone it being Hajime and let alone him having been sat a little ways off where he really should have spotted him sooner. Still, the chef recovered from flinching a good two inches off the floor with fair grace, as he tilted his head in acknowledgment.

"I suppose I'm supposed to thank you for your support in the matter?"

The cook walked over, begrudgingly accepting that if he had to delay his departure a few minutes it might as well be for one of the kids he'd grown to accept as a fellow spirit. Somehow.

"What about you? Kind of early to be loafing about- not that you ever do." He smirked down in a familiar way at the strict mannered boy.

It was a bit amusing that someone as usually perceptive as Sanji could sometimes miss out on so much around him. But he always figured it out eventually, it seemed. Hajime hooked his thumbs in his pockets with a shrug as he moved closer.

"No need for thanks. Support is what I do, after all."

With more than enough reasons not to get into the nitty gritty details about why he was up so early, Hajime just shook his head. "With so many people heading off, it's too quiet to sleep. I'd finally gotten used to the bustle." He smirked back. "Better to get up early to catch the ones who leave without trying to say goodbye."

Sanji simply smiled a little more wryly at the support comment, but at the second he grinned, and did something rather tellingly outrageous.

He grabbed Hajime in one of the most spectacular headlock-noogies that has ever been witnessed by man.

"Oh-ho! You're the one doing the catching, eh?" He scrunched his knuckles down remorselessly on the boy's close shaven head with brotherly vengeance. "Doesn't look that way to me!"

The sudden grapple came completely unexpected, and for a moment Hajime couldn't do much but flail under Sanji's assailing knuckles. "Auuughnn--! Cheap, cheap move!"

After a moment, Hajime managed to squirm loose, and immediately set upon his revenge by attempting to tickle the taller man. "Don't think you can get away with that, you're not staff anymore!"

The long-legged cook made a surprisingly unmanly yelping noise at the assault, but recovered swiftly by hoisting the wretch underneath one arm (although the blushing didn't help).

"Ahaha! But that's precisely why I can get away with it!" He wagged a finger under the captive's nose. "No rules saying pirates can't take hostages are there, hm?"

There was a lot of ungainly squirming, as Hajime was really much too large to be lugged like a sack of potatoes. "Scoundrel! I won't let you get away with this!"

It was very difficult to sound stern about it all when he was struggling to hold back laughter. He reached about awkwardly to continue his assault on his captor's ribs. "Go on, do your worst; why, I'd do you dirty pirates in!"

"Ah! Cad! Fiend! Shit-" The cook gave up the facade of valiance, falling over completely as he relinquished the obstinate prisoner; damnit, he really was too ticklish.

Recovering his breath in a pile of limbs, the blond sighed the last laughs out of his system before sitting in what he judged was an upright position.

"Ah~h... jeez, never thought I'd miss a pain in the ass like you, but I'm gonna." He gave what was discernibly Hajime's knee cap a light shove. "You tell anyone and I'll come right back here and hang you though."

The struggle ended in a rather squishy tangle atop one another, and the peals of laughter both natural and somehow strange. "Who would have thought," he mused aloud. It was a question that had come up a lot with Sanji. However they managed to reach this point from where they started... "Well, I guess I can't complain on that too much."

Hajime shook his head as Sanji gave him a little push. "That so? Well, if it means I can get another shot at you, it might be worth it." Hajime managed to prop himself up on elbows. "I certainly can't let you go off unchecked, now can I?"

Sanji pulled a face that could have been supposed to be rebelliously disapproving, but really it was just an advanced form of pouting combined with a smirk.

Extracting himself from the knot of companionship he held out a hand to yank his young companion back to his feet, as the chef looked back at the building with a shake of the head before picking up his case.

"Can you believe it, me, a true and blue sailor, getting all nostalgic over a pile of rubble like that." He hefted the luggage over his shoulder with an admitting shrug. "Then again, I guess I am a bit of a soft touch when it comes to kids."

He gave Hajime an entirely patronising grin, but there was another level to it. A promise to make the same insult again, at a later time.

"Guess it's about time I weighed anchor."
